I'm going to use this log to chronicle one month on the velocity diet, and my training along with it. I am doing the old diet, which IS a ketogenic diet, not the new velocity diet 3.0. Also, not using biotest products ($$$).
I am hoping and expecting to gain strength and numbers, while losing some fat.

Anyway, Calories:
Non-workout days: around 1,275 calories
Workout Days: 1,605 calories
I'm going to figure out the protein/fat/carbs in a bit, will post when I do.

Measurements:
Weight (on my house scale, which is off): 134 lbs
All in inches
Shoulders: 40.5 Bust: 36.5 Waist: 28 Hips: 36.2 Butt (for fun): 39
Right: Bicep(flexed): 11.5 Calf: 14.2 Thigh: 23
Left: Bicep(flexed): 11.2 (wtf-I have trouble flexing this one) Calf: 14.2 Thigh: 23

Supplements:
Centrum Multivitamin, Ferrous Gluconate, B12, Se7en (bought awhile ago, deciding to use it now), Whey protein, Casein Protein, Natural P.B., Glutamine (before and after workouts) and BCAAs (B4 and after workouts)

My Workout Routine:

Mondays: Squat Day
Back Squats
Front Squats
Barbell Rows

Wednesday: Deadlift Day
Deadlifts
Romanian Deadlifts
Overhead Press (might switch out for something else, not making ANY progress for awhile)
Dumbbell Rows
Grip Training

Friday: Bench Day
Barbell Bench
Pin Press
Lat Pulldown
Hammer Curls
Tricep Pushdowns
Abs (leg raises)

The plan is to add 5lb every workout to the main lifts, Squat, Deadlift and Bench. I am currently in week 2.

so far: Squat 180lb x 5 reps (yesterday), Deadlift 230 x 1 (last wednesday), and Bench 105 x 1 (last friday)

Any chance you could post up which brands of protein you are using, I love the biotest stuff but the price is just retarded once you add in shipping be nice to see what other people consider equivalent.

How long are you going for the reg 28 days? Anyway best of luck!

Thanks everyone! It's going well so far, waking up today was hard as hell.. lol, but I feel much better now.
I'm going to the gym tonight, Deadlift day, going to pull 235lb- hopefully with pretty clean form.

I am using 3 different brands for the diet (whether or not they are equal to biotest, I'm not sure, but I like them)

Optimum Casein Chocolate -- night shake
Decadent Whey Strawberry Banana-- morning
and Thermo-Lean Isolean Chocolate Banana parfait.

The last two I got from pumphousenutrition, good price.

I mix the flax oil in, and they taste great!-- no complaints here.
oh and yes, I'm doing the 28 days, then will switch to maintenance diet of 3 meals/ 3 shakes per day.

We got in a ton of free stuff for you to try when you come visit me at the Pickering gym :)

How's Garret doing, is he following the same plan?

ooh.. free stuff, nice. I think we will come in on friday, maybe around 12 or 2. You better be there!

Garett's doing pretty good, he's following the same plan pretty much, more calories obviously.. lol. We just started on monday (well tuesday for me), so we will see how it goes.

Just got back from the gym a little while ago. Had a serious mental battle with myself, but luckily I won! The 235lb deadlift, which I have done before a few weeks ago-- tried 4 times, failed! Said **** it I give up, but I got mad at that, said **** it again, I am doing this. And i did it, pretty quick pull too. Stupid brain. I was taking too long to begin the pull, oh well lesson learned.

Nice stuff. I've often thought about going on a Velocity-style PSMF if and when I stop making positive changes from just eating a PCHP (pretty clean high protein) diet. Very interested in seeing how this goes for you.

Woke up today, feel great!!

1st: what is PSMF? lol

2nd: I do squat/ deadlift M W because I can't wait until friday to deadlift, I love it too much. I like bench the least, so I put it on the last day, I dunno. Maybe not the best way to do it, but it has been working so far. Although yesterday, for the 1st time in awhile (credit the diet) I was still feeling sore from Monday. I just cant see myself waiting all week to do deadlifts.

Great gym day, went to the new Pickering Anytime and it is great! I love it, very open.

Bench 115lb- pretty quickly, its a +10lb PR! awesome, must be doing something right. I think mainly it's because my form has improved alot, and I have been dedicating one day to my upper body.

Feel energetic today!

Great posts dear. Were about the same size off season.

Remember it's not how much u lift but how strong you look. True during dieting down one looses strength, but you look strong outside the gym and that is where it counts.

Went to the gym today!
Squat Day! Back Squats: 185lb for 5 reps.
and Front Squats: 110lb for 5 reps. Both are PR's for me!
*I need to remember to take videos of my lifts* -- lol keep forgetting.
Diet is going pretty well. Tomorrow is the day when I get to eat a meal, and it's also my birthday, so I am going to the Keg. Going to get something healthy, but yummy!

Sorry haven't been on in awhile.

Was feeling depressed all weekend!! But I am much better now.

I made two Back Squat PR's yesterday!! 190lb x 2 reps, and 205lb for a 1 RM!
I'm pretty happy about the 205- it felt way easier then when I did 200lb back in January- and I am lighter now! All good.

I didn't do my measurements today- going to do them tomorrow. I am excited and nervous. :S

Tomorrow I am planning on deadlifting 245lb- possibly 250- hopefully I am under 125- so I will be at a double bodyweight deadlift. I promise I will take a few videos tomorrow. I am super excited for this- and FOOD after!

Had a yummy pita yesterday for my meal- it was great. Anyone in the durham area- try Mazaar Grill!- It's delicious (Hwy 2 near whites rd)

On another note- couldn't pull 250lb yesterday- wasn't in the mind set. I tried and failed 3 times, then decided I would leave it for another day. Not too happy about this but I think it was the right decision. I know I can do it, I just need to be in the right mind.

My entire body was hurting soo much at the gym yesterday. Trying to decide if I should change up my program, or continue with this for another week or so. My body is telling me it's time to change up soon. I originally planned to go to a 250lb deadlift (hence why I attempted it on wed)- but I did hit a pretty easy 205lb PR on squats the monday before that.

Grr. Don't know what to do- i might keep with it for one more week, then move on to something else. Something fresh.

All alone in my log :(

lol.. oh well

So i will admit, I kinda ****ed up on the diet a bit. I have always had a problem with eating ALOT! lol, and I let myself slip into it a few times. I think its because that's how I have always dealt with stress, and I have soo much to do for school right now. But doing that is just taking me away from what i need to get done.

I have decided to add an extra week for the one I ****ed up- so today I am going to get through it without ****ing up! That is my plan.

Also, new gym routine. My goal is for it to be short and effective. I'm thinking to have one base movement (squat, bench, deadlift), then do 3-5 sets of a combo or complex after with an assistance to the base movement, and 2-4 other movements each workout. For the next month, I just need a quicker, simple routine to make more room for school. Then when I am done, I will switch to something else.

You've deffinatly made progress I think your being a little hard on yourself, I doubt most people would be hitting PRs on a restrictive diet like you did. Take it easy in the gym for awhile and focus on eating right and resting especially if you are feeling stressed from school/work or whatever.

Nice bikini shots... I think our memberships sales would increase if you worked out in that outfit :)

Honestly speaking, my advice would be either focus on powerlifting or cutting up... by trying to do both at the same time you will not excel at either... Maybe cut up in the summer and powerlift in the winter...

You are not far from abs... but those last 10-15lbs are a killer...

Whatever you decide to do... you look great and are pound for pound one of the strongest people I know!

lol.. I dont think I could work out in that! It would be bad news.

I love powerlifting, so I don't think I could take time off from it, however I have realized that by trying to hir PR's every workout I am killing myself. The 5x5 is a better option. I don't want to lose strength! And plus I want to compete possibly in the summer or september.

Thanks! It's a struggle, but I have been doing good for the past few days. It's really hard to eat clean because I still live at home, and my parents don't eat too well. It's hard to resist when you have to look at a doughnut like 5 times a day! haha.. but I realized today that I am excited for this, and have now come to a point where I think it is weird to have a meal without having a green vegetable in it!

it takes will power if you truly want it there is no excuse.....I watch dudes eat takeout, doughnuts, catered lunches etc....there i sit with my skinless chicken and asparagus, or oats etc....Many of us do it without fail....it takes deep desire...It makes me feel stronger knowing i have the balls to be able to sacrifice without regret and feel great whilst doing it.....BUT come post contest, i will have my cake, and eat it to....
Get a definite goal, get your head in the game and go for it....Otherwise you are going to never be happy and always talk about it....:beat

Oh man, I have been so busy, and am going to be super busy for the next few weeks. So much to do for school right now, but Im almost done! Can't wait.

So the diet is going pretty well.
I weighed/ measured myself on tuesday, here are the results:
Weight: 125lb (-1lb)
Shoulders: 39 (-.5)
Bust: 35.6 (-.1)
Waist: 26.1 (-.8)
Hips: 34.5 (-.6)
Butt: 37.2 (-.3)
Biceps: 11 - no change
Forearms: 9.2 - no change
Calves: 14 - no change
Thighs: 21.5 (-.6)

All of the comparisons I took from April 22nd.
So I have one week left, and will most likely do mostly shakes the week after that too, because it is convenient with my busy schedule.
But once school is over I want to incorporate more carbs, so I can go running, and do fun outside cardio!

I plan on posting more in it.

Anyway, I have a planned powerlifting contest on July 18th. I'm hoping to compete at 123lb, but I have to lose some weight to do that.

Right now my maxes are 205lb Squat, 115lb Bench, and 240lb Deadlift. I haven't been training as much as I would like to be, but I am going to start in earnest today.

Honestly speaking, my advice would be either focus on powerlifting or cutting up... by trying to do both at the same time you will not excel at either... Maybe cut up in the summer and powerlift in the winter...

I don't agree with this and I know a few powerlifters that excel at both...It's not about the total number of pounds you lift that determines if you excel at powerlifting...

Personally, at a very defined 165 I will have a higher wilks than at 181. I feel a hell of a lot stronger at 181, but its not about how much you lift. I find this even more true for women. My wife for example doesn't lose any strength even the day of a figure show (perhaps 5-10 pounds per lift tops just from being so carb depleted).

I think you should keep at it (both that is).

Funny, I'm only a few days out from competition and I've hit PR's in bench, deads and presses in the last few weeks. I'm thinking of giving PL an go next year, but don't know ANYTHING about it really. Keep us posted metalchick, I'd be interested to know how you do:)

You coming to the Ottawa open? I'm not competing as it's a drug tested meet, and I steer clear of those... but I'm handling a friend there, and probably helping out with spotting... It's a great meet to do, and Barry runs it very well

I think I am going to try and do both. When I am on a higher protein/fat / lower carb diet I seem to be stronger anyways.

Thanks! I will definitely let you know how it goes.

So, I just competed in my first powerlifting competition on Saturday.

It was great, and I loved every minute of it.

I weighed in at 58kg, around 127lb.

I didn't do as well as I feel I could have, but here are the lifts:

Squat: 184 lb, 198lb, 225 (red lighted because I didn't squat low enough). Wearing knee wraps and a belt

Bench: 88lb, did too far of a weight jump, failed twice at 105lb :( It's the pause that gets me!

Deadlift: 205lb, failed twice at 231lb, was putting my feet wider then my normal stance for some reason, and couldn't get it off the ground.

I am pretty disappointed in what I lifted, but I am proud that I did the meet!
Just going and doing it was a huge step, and now I have numbers to beat next time!

Overall it was a great experience and everyone was so helpful!

I was asking because I live like an hour from ajax and I might be interested in trying a power lifting competition.

Don't worry about the first meet... it's always a write off

The combination of timing your warm ups, getting your knees wrapped at the right time, picking the right attempts, turning in attempts... well it's pretty crazy the first time you do it...

The 2nd time is much much easier... you still get the nerves... at least i still do... but things come more natural and you're not freaking out... well I still do that too...

You handled yourself really well at the meet, I didn't get to see you lift really, I was handling another lifter and when you do that, you have to make sure you give them all the support they need... but you weren't freaking out or crying... I've seen a lot of both...
