Ok guys.
Moral dilemma here. I want to eradicate the insects around my home. I have a nice big deck with a hottub, BBq, furniture... I am putting in a koi pond and rain chain fountains... I like the backyard gig. Rum. Music. I spend my fee time in the yard. So the problem is with All the damned jewel spiders. Everywhere. Webs in your face at night. Spider shit on the siding. Plus let's ****ing face it... They are gross. Look like freaky little Predator alien ****in things.
So I want them all dead. Final solution. Bring on the poison.

So what about all the other cute little bugs? The birds? The moral struggle with killing for personal comfort?

But what about my personal comfort?

Honestly bro, I would do everything in my power to get rid of the spiders...I can't stand them.

I wouldn't purposefully hurt any other animals, etc - and I would be as careful as possible...but I would be prepared to except a certain degree of 'casualties of war'

Keep in mind what kind of poison you use and the possibility of it getting into your home (tracks in on your shoes, seeps through the cracks, etc).

It would be very unfortunate for your cat to inadvertently get poisoned because you're afraid of spiders. I don't like em either, but I wouldn't go as far as to poison them... why not just use a pressure washer a couple times a month and clean around the house?

Mind you, that one in the pic looks ****ing gross.. I wouldn't want that ****er walkin on me. I just had one crawling on my leg a couple days ago, smaller than that, and I freaked out... squashed that little shit **** as quick as I could.

yes, i suppose maintaining them with a pressure washer would help the situation, but it is kind of a pain in the ass to do that, and poison only is a phone call away....

dude. these spiders are gross. yes, i see the ecological importance of the species, but their grossness factor and proliferation and population in and around my deck is too abundant.

poison i fear is the only answer

I've got one of these:http://www.flameengineering.com/Assets/torch_images/WeedDragonBPAction.jpg

Not a backback one (i've got to lug the tank around). Problem is they are fun and you could end up burning trees, plants, decks, your foot, pets, small children... did I say it's fun?

i like the idea of fire, but i usually am impaired in one way shape or form when doing things around the yard, so i am sure i would cause a fire. either that or the neighbor would get concerned and call the fire department, and I would be verbally abusive and then the ****ign RCMP would come, and I am a registered gun owner, and they might want to have my guns tooken away....

this is what I used for my place, night time was hell just getting in the house without have a ****ing huge spider near you.

I bought some regular spider killing spray. ( it sprays in a mist so I used this to spray the siding on the house. the spiders would hide underneath the ledge of the siding if that makes sense ?)

then i got some hornet spray for nest, the stuff foams up real nice and it sprays a nice stream. so i used that for the hard to reach areas.

killed most of the spiders and never had the problem again that year.

Ha that`s funny. All those "agressive causing steroids" and you still have sympathy for insects. And I don`t mean that in a bad way. Must feel awesome running all that together.

got this from a spider website...

Keep in mind that the population you have this year will be quite different from the population you will have next year; next year's population will be the babies of this year's adults, and they will balloon away the first chance they get. The number of spiders you support is dependent on what your insect population is like, and this is largely determined by the number of lights you leave on after dark. So, to reduce your spider population, turn off your lights!

I have read that if you attract larger birds (red winged blackbirds etc) by putting in bird feeders, they will eat the spiders.

^^ hmm, i like that idea. They would be some fat assed birds after they were done in my yard, but I am cool with fat birds... As long as they STFU on the weekends in the early AM
