lmao.... give me a ****ing break:
"Earth Hour truly is about: it isn’t pro-earth, it is anti-man and anti-innovation"
um, no.. actually you can still be aware of environmental and global changes without going back to cavemen days... seriously, if you buy this shit you're part of the problem.
wanting to create cleaner air and a cleaner world for the future has absolutely nothing to do with shunning our achievements. we're constantly learning and growing, and we can still be just as innovative coming up with better ways to do things in this world.
earth hour on the other hand, to me.. just seems stupid. between 8:30-9:30.... that doesn't account for the time differences around the world, so its not like all lights will be off at one time.... so really, whats the point....

My lights and TV will be on. Probably our washing machine and dryer too cuz it won't do itself.

The point is to save 1/24th of the energy wasted on lighting. The average citizen won't participate because, I agree, we need those ****ing lights during that time!!! But if we calculate all the commercial and governmental offices that are lit up 24/7 but only occupied 8h per day, I think the difference can be significant. The time at which the lights are turned off is irrelevant. What's important is that we won't use electricity coming from those polluting coal power plants for an hour, effectively cutting both electricity and coal consumption.

oh k i thought it was more for a visual thing than actually conserving electricity.. like showing you support the movement or something like that by turning off your lights, not actually conserving power.
i wonder how many people actually did it.
i think it'd be cool if more people actually did it and satellites recorded it as they orbitted around the earth.. kinda like a big ass light 'wave'.
