View Full Version : Thoughts on head injuries?

So, I went boarding yesterday and on one of my last runs I caught my back edge and fell pretty bad. Ass hit first then back of head smacked HARD. Had a helmet on (thank god) but noticed a couple dents in it.

Now, I went to sleep last night and feel fairly fine today. No usual symptoms of a head injury and having had a bunch of concussions from sports, I know the deal.

But after the whole Richardson thing the other week I am starting to second guess myself BUT what I don't want is to go to a hospital, wait hours, then see someone and have them ask me questions and it appear I am fine and send me on my way without the CT scan.

Thoughts?

Thx

Why take the chance? If it's something serious might as well deal with it right away instead of progressing to something worst.

I`d get it checked just to be sure. Don`t want to mess with these kind of risks. Good move on wearing the helmet.

Here's a question: If YOU felt fine would you go through the hassle of going to a hospital?

If I felt fine, I wouldn`t be asking questions here. You are, so you should go.

I do feel fine. But with all the news recently.. can't help but wonder eh?

And, I live on my own so it's one thing if I had someone around me but if there is something wrong I am pretty much ****ed.

So that couple with the fact my helmet was dented is probably why I am going to go and be responsible but just to make sure I avoid the wait times I am going to tell them I've bveen throwing up and have a headache lol

is it safe to re-use the helmet ? I know motorcross helmets you shouldn't re-use after you hit your head.

if i felt fine i dont think i would go.

If you go I hope it goes well and don`t get no doctor who starts lecturing you about steroids.

I think you will be ok man, ive biffed pretty hard, caught an edge snowboarding and ****en slammed the back of my head into the ground, felt dizzy after but thats about it. Helmet probably saved me.

Unless you notice some symptoms of head injury then you're ok.

Defects in vision (Visual Field Cuts).
Difficulty with locating objects in environment.
Difficulty with identifying colors (Color Agnosia).
Production of hallucinations.
Visual illusions - inaccurately seeing objects.
Word blindness - inability to recognize words.
Difficulty in recognizing drawn objects.
Inability to recognize the movement of object (Movement Agnosia).
Difficulties with reading and writing.

The above list is symptoms from trauma to the back of the head.

^^^thanks dude. I know the symptoms well as I've had numerous concussions from sports. I have no doubt I'd be a veg if I hadn't been wearing the helmet.

I am going to go tho. Just that shit with Richardson is enough to make me go. She felt fine too...

me???? nope. if you feel fine, why bother.

Like me, youve been through the routine cracking heads on the field. You know your body

If you have dizziness, memory issues, pain, head ache, black eyes, pressure, or whatever else is not normal.... yeah, go get it checked out.

Or if you are concerned, go get it checked out. the doc will probably check your retnas, and BP, but I doubt you will get a CT
