Well, here we go again; another round of spring break up. The time where companies downsize and make budget cuts to reflect better profits, thus leading to layoffs.
I work in the oil patch on the service side. I've been training on and off for a logn time but this past 3 years I've been pretty dedicated and consistant. Traveling all over Alberta, Some of Saskatchewan and northern B.C. I found most gyms in each town/city and go for a work out even after a long 16 hour day.
Anyways, I thought I was ready to dedicate myself for my first cycle. Since it's break up. I figure it would be perfect because I'll be home everyday doing banker hours, but working in the shop because we're so slow. I started my cycle half way through my days off. (working 5 days off 16 days on) I was doing a Tren Ace - Sust 250 finishing with Winstrol for the last 4 weeks. I shot myself for 4 days, felt the tren insomnia and a bit of night sweats. I felt AMAZING pumps and couldnt stop eating and felt great. As soon as I went back to work, I was surprised to go up north (which i didn't want). So I instantly came into a pissy mood. I noticed after just 4 days my anger, blood pressure and aggression was ten fold and I had to really concentrate on not flipping out. It was hard to leep and really sucked when I had to be up at 5:00am. This wasn't going to work, not when I'm working.
Soooo since I was only 4 days in, I'd stop and wasn't at the point of no return.
Now I'm stuck in a perdicament. Take a 3 month lay off and fully dedicate myself to this cycle and HOPE I can get my job back. Or just tough it out, work and save my cycle for another time.

Assuming that you are obvioulsy not a pro bodybuilder or intending to compete anytime soon...
No matter how good you look, how hard you pump or how big you are... The chicks will love you ten times more with a job than they will with an extra 15 pounds...Especially at this point... you wouldnt be too smart givign up a job.
Anyways, that just me... Work first siche money is the basis to anything.. including your next cycle.
Your cycle is not gonna run away anyways...

Ya I can't agree more with you guys. As much as I want to train, I have my priorities which is work.
Anyone else experiencing layoffs or work in the oil patch?

when a rig shuts down though, your pretty much ****ed and theres nothing you can do about it.
Sure, if he can get a job back do it, but its slim to none. So might as well make soemthing of the time

Yeah layoffs suck, but it is a great time to do a cycle if you can fit it in. I work in town but got laid off (YAY!) so it ended up being the perfect time to cycle since I have nothing else to do and its right before summer.
Rigs should be coming back its not like the oil is going anywhere. I know a few guys who take gear while they are working out of town but personally I dont think its worthwhile when you are work 12+ hour days.

I experienced the same thing in the forest industry. It was such a pain in the ass getting any kind of a cycle going or training for that matter. Some camps had gyms, others didn't, some had decent food, others just a ****ing grease factory!.... I am not going to miss that industry one bit!! This last major downturn was sort of a blessing in disguise, it made me make some major changes in my life.
