Took the kids to the Circus and couldn't believe the recruiting to become a Mason. They had banners and while the main guy talked he kept promoting it and telling people to talk to certain people at a booth. I know the shriners are Masons (Branched off), but didn't expect that.. Low on members I guess, I think I'll join lol..

Freemasons are a society with secrets, not a secret society. It is against the "rules" to recruit though....you have to ask one, then you are investigated, then voted on in open lodge, then you have to go through an intense initiation for 3 degrees.

It is against the laws of Masonry to directly recruit....

The Shriners are directly Masons...not branched off.....they are all Master Masons.

I talked to them and also emailed them at one of there lodges. They do check you out and meet with you first and go from there. All walks of life Lawyers, Electricians ect.. are welcome. It was an Info booth for becoming a Mason. No, you don't need to know someone (but it helps), at least from what I'm told. You must also be a person who supports there family (NO SKIDS). That running the world stuff is just crap..

so why would i want to be a mason, besides the novelty of saying i am one

what would it get me. what would i get to do. why the secrecy?

I won't discuss it in open forum, but if anyone is legitimately interested in the Masons you can PM me. I can say that "the novelty of being one" is not a reason to go through the long process of being one.

My brother is a Mason, we talked about it once.

He gave me the general idea I don't ask questions about something that isn't about my business.

I got no strange vibe when he talked about it. The whole thing just look extremely well structured and seems that the members know precisely how to conduct about their commitment to the masons and where it starts and finishes.

oops, I searched this subject on you tube. What a mistake. I would have been better off without another conspiracy theory. LOLcats.
