I'm curious as to who here has competed in a bodybuilding show (including fitness and figure). Feel free to also mention number of shows, federation, level, placing etc...

Considering this is a bodybuilding forum there isn't a whole lot of talk about actual bodybuilding. I know of a few people for sure that compete but there are so many new people showing up all the time.

I've done 2 shows so far. Windsor Cup (Juniors) in 2005, placed 1st and a UFE (natural bodybuilding) show in 2007. Placed 2nd in middleweight for that one. Want to compete again in November as a LHW.

I figured this would be a decent thread.

Not really bodybuilding but I have done 12 strongman comps over the last 4years/seasons... And I'm about 2 wks out from another NAS/ASC sanctioned Platinum Plus Pro/Am (Winners of both light and heavy weight amature classes get an ASC Pro card).

I compete as a heavyweight locally and as a lightweight in "advanced" level comps. Depending what happens this season I may do the Sandra Wickham Classic next fall or give the body a break from beating into a pulp.

I have done 3 shows really but I only count 2 :P

sept 2006 London placed second in Middleweight 173lbs

Nov 2006 Brantford level 2 middleweight. placed last because my trainer abandoned me and showed up 15 mins before I went on stage. I was still a newb and didn't really know what i was doing. I was not impressed.

May 2008 Mississauga Level 1 placed Second in Light heavy 183lbs

Competing again May 23 2009. In full diet mode :P

Preparing for a bodybuilding show always leaves a bitter sweet feeling for me. You sacrifice so many things in your life just to get on stage...... for me, the journey was always better than the actual 5 minutes on stage.

Now I just train for the fun of it.... not because I'm a bodybuilder. Bodybuilding is such a counter culture sport, and it always will be.

Witch show are you gonna do?

Well i just got my bodyfat tested not good,i'm at 11.3%,we are going to take another test next week.Will likely do the Thunder Bay,or the Sault ste Marie show.

Anyone can feel free to post up their strongman or powerlifting comps also. I just didn't think of it when I initially made the thread. I knew there were some high level competitors on this site. I never see Fouad or Lou or Ron posting anymore. I remember all 3 of them from MN. If you guys are lurking feel free to contribute.

I can ask the guy at the gym,but it was a Machine by 3M,not acute from what the guy said it can be off by 2%,so i can high a higher amount of fat them,makes me feel like shit.

I did my first show with a natty federation and took home my pro card. 2nd show I took 3rd place but the girls had alot of size on me :( lol.

I hope to come in tight this season and get a nice placing I HOPE. I am competing with OCB and its my first time but with 15 weeks left to go I think I should come in tighter, meh!

They really need to bring back the kingston shows.........

I agree. The last kingston show was 2003/2004 I think, maybe even earlier. I remember the last couple of Kingston/Eastern Ontario Championships had died a lot there at the Grand Theater. That show kicked ass in the late 90's though, when Larry and Sue Champagne were the promoters. Once it switched hands it was never the same.
