Hey guys I have a buddy that has started working out with me for the last few months, he is one of those guys that seems to be able to do whatever he puts his mind to. He used to run a lot and was like 155 a few years ago now hes a chubby 205 and wants to lose weight and look good for his wedding in july. I have been advising him on his workouts a bit but i have no experience cutting down as i was skinny as hell when i started training and have always just been trying to grow so if anyone has any good fat cutting workouts please make suggestions. He already knows he has to get his diet under control and cardio in check

ya keep his diet clean on dark green vegies limit fruit and sugars...also a good thing he could do to help is the good ole ECA stack that will help jump start his fat loss.....IT sounds gay as hell but i do the slim fast thing to help drop some weight for summer mind you i tweak it up by adding some stuff to it like protein shakes etc to help keep my body from canabolisim itself and loose all that muscle i worked hard for over the winter...I find it works

Good advice but I would recommend against ECA.

It will **** with his andrenal glands and could cause more problems with mood swings, depression etc.

Some people don't have these problems with ephedrine, but I honestly have never heard anyone say they had the same sides effects from YCNA or similar blends.

Maybe he should start running again.

Very good advice...avoid ECA it will cause more harm than good down the road. Its a short term fix with long term issues.
All he needs to do tighten his diet ..ie eliminate white flour and white sugar. Eat 5-6 small well balanced meals per day ie 45g pro+15g fat + 25g carbs and continue training just add in some cardio 4-5 times per week at 40min per session to start.

This is what I suggest. Forget cardio and carrot eating diets. Try a manly approach. Google "German Body Comp" by Charles Poliquin. You will find plenty of fat burning weight training programs. By looking at them, you'll get the idea on how the training system works. Follow a program, or create your own. But follow the system.

Cut the carbs to about 20-30 gr per day. This is about one cup of green veggies per meal. Eat around 200-220 gr of protein (40+gr protein per meal x 5 meals). Eat good fats, but don't stress on naturally occuring fat found on meat.

This is a must, following this type of lifestyle: 10-15 gr. per day of HIGH QUALITY omega 3s. split the intake 3xday. Breakfast, lunch & dinner, taken at the end of the meal. Please, do not buy the cheap stuff. There is so much mercury in it, you might as well use a battery as a suppository and get better results.

I use this system any time I want to lose weight, and it works every time. You can easily drop 1-2% bodyfat per week. Do the math, 3 months down the road!

Good luck to your friend.

I found that adding some Olympic-type lifts to my routine really helped me take off the lard. I wasn't training for max singles with great form or anything... just explosively getting fairly heavy (for me, anyway) weights from the floor to over my head, usually in a 5X5 type of routine, twice a week or so as part of a basic three times per week whole-body routine.. Got the heart and sweat glands pumping, and made a real difference in my body comp.

Adding extra fish oil to a fairly clean high-protein diet definitely seems to help, too.

If he's up for it some of Scott Abel's new MET type training will melt the fat away, but **** they hard as hell. You lift weights but keep the rest periods down, oxygen debt up and high volume. I've never sweat so much and it took me a few weeks to be able to get through the program without barfing. Works great for ripping up IMO. If I feel up for it I might do it again for the summer to keep in ultra lean shape.
