why ****ed up? him and his brother owned the industry at one point. Stands to reason they'd make a few bucks out of it?

Seems to me he could give out more money to the competitors as he can easily afford it. Sure it`s a choice to compete at that level, but we all know these guys put their health at risk and don`t get much in return. He could have made a difference. It sickens me to read stuff like Dexter Jackson and his family all slept on the floor for a period of time because they couldn`t afford beds. That`s very sad. Guys living in their cars, it goes on and on.

How about the supplement companies? That make billions off the back of the entire industry but put back very little into the community.

Without guys like Weider there wouldn't be pro bodybuilders. I'd say the man did his part for the sport. Could he have done it better? Sure but we can all do things a little better.

These are the very reasons I don`t attend bodybuilding shows or buy from big companies. Most my stuff is bought in bulk. For one the companies just don`t pay out enough to the pro`s. **** em. I mean Eric Frankhouse is sponsored but by universal but still has to work as a trainer. Bullshit! They should shell out more cash and let him focus on nothing but bodybuilding! It`s ****ed up when you think about it! Guys spending tens of thousands of dollars to do a show and get jack shit in return. And this is typically a short time frame they can do this in, then are left with nothing.

So it`s the supplement companies fault as well.

The weiders are business men plain and simple, for the amount of money they have made they have gave very little back to the bodybuilding community.

The supplement industry turns in roughly 13 billion dollars a year what percentage of that do you think trickles down to the athletes that use them? I would bet 1 percent of that would be a very generous guess

What do you expect from his kind? That clique of Outremont, Westmount, and Hamstead elite only cared about making money, even if that meant they had to engage in outright lies and fraudulent practices.

Those two brothers made in part what the sport is today...they put themselves at risk, took many chances...and along the lines profited as much as they could.

I am sure that they both did and have done greater things behind the scenes than any of us have any ideas.
...that is a lot of money to have banked up however...**** me...

As for sleeping in cars that's better than other rumors that I've heard (ones involving rich fags....)

are you really surprised? like a lot of guys are saying, when the athletes aren't rich but the industry makes a lot of money, someone has to get it.... that's because unlike the NFL, MLB etc.... they have no union

Dexter made a record in show winnings (which I know they make more from endorsements but still) and it was something like $350k - and he's the top of the pile. Now I know they can't make money like golfers can, more people watch and play that than BB, but what's a guy going to make if he's 25th in the world? Free protein shakes?

as a side note, these folks become pro BBers knowing the deal. They know they may not make a great living from the sport itself and that's their choice. They went into it fully aware.
