Folks,

I have noticed on some bottles of ALA not to take if you have hypoglycemia. I have also read somewhere not to take if you have hypoglycemic symptoms.

I have not been able to find out why this is the case.

does anyone have any further information?

thank you.

I think it might have something to do with the idea that ALA is or can be involved with the regulation of insulin in respect to blood sugars and carbohydrate metabolism. (?) A number of guys would take ALA during times where they were eating high carb meals to help stabilize blood sugars and maximize glycogen loading I think. Not sure if that's at all helpful?

it is considered a Glucose Disposal Agent (GDA), often used to get into ketosis quicker. Therefore if you have an issue with blood sugar being too low to begin with taking something to lower the levels far enough isn't a good idea.
