The latest news is next year at some point. The Beta expires in August. I suspect it will be a year following.

I'm running windows 7 now and love it. And for PGP with safe-mail, use firefox and get the support built in! Let me know if you need a hand setting that up.

ive set it up many many times with xp and have no issues at all, but with my new pc that has vista it does not work.. firepgp does not recognize some file, i tried so many different things, the pgp program downloads in my 64bit program files, i have 2 of them.. and for some reason it just wont work.. right now i have the pgp running on a lap top with no issues.. its just with vista that im having issues.. i even had a buddy come by and help me out and he was stumped as well..

When I think about it, I could not get it to work for me with vista 64 either. Since I had only 4gb of ram and the new service pack allowed support for it, I went back to vista 32 and it worked perfect.

I am doing a downgrade as I type this. I am an IT pro as well. On the same laptop XP is substantially faster. It is a 2.2gz dual core with 2 gigs of memory. I find the security features are over-zealous in Vista and network connections can be problematic. I find XP to be a perfectly good OS. All Microsoft needed to do is remove the 3 gig ceiling on the memory and it would have been gold. I still have Win2000 boxes in my office. No need to change if it is working for you.

Vista was supposed to make things easier for the end-user. This turned out to be an epic fail. There should be an easy way to allow a user who knows XP to use an XP interface. You should not to be a *very* qualified IT professional to use the basics of an OS.

My internet constantly freezes, internet shuts down, excel is at the point where i can't click a excel file and open it without opening the file from the open menu in excel. This is on a 6 month old over $2000 laptop.

^^^^Yep, I still have everyone on Office 2003 and loaded up the conversion pack. I have loaded XP so many times I could do it in my sleep. I just have it running on the bench while I go about other tasks.

every new OS Microsoft makes requires more horse power. it's been going on since 3.0. you need more memory and a faster CPU and better video card. Windows 7 is supposely going to be better but guarantee you'll need more RAM and processing power. if you want to run with real power and safety use Linux, it's popularity is growing and gives you more control, if you know what you are doing. Mac's are better too but the software costs alot more. IMHO

I think everyone agrees Windows has only gone downhill since 3.1...

vista x64 isnt all that bad. Yes its a pain to set up your drivers, but once they are, problems arent worse (nor better) than with xp
