What is it that attracted you to the iron game? What is it that you love about bodybuilding?

For me i started weight training in highschool and i just loved the feeling that i got when i was pushing heavy weights and watching your body transforming week to week. Bodybuilding has made me a better person in general. Even though we put our bodies through pain and sacrifice i love it!!!

I started at the age of 14, it gave me confidence and made me keep out of trouble throughout highschool, really helped me shape who I was. what i love about this sport is that it is an individual sport, what you acheive is yours and yours alone. Also outside of the sport itself it gives you advantages in all aspects of life from relationships to work. Bodybuilding is truly a life sport!

Like most people I think I started because of the desire to improve myself as a person. Many people do not understand that bodybuilding is not a self absorbed narcissistic pastime, but rather a way of life that teaches one hard work, dedication, discipline, and humility. The weights never lie, and sometimes you fail in a lift, but instead of being a little beotch, you learn from your mistakes and try again. Often too many people will half ass everything in their lives, whether work, school, or relationships.

The iron teaches one how to become a stronger person physically, but I believe the best rewards are the mental and personal satisfaction.

Ever since I have started lifting weights I have become more comfortable with myself, less shy, and nobody calls me a fag anymore. Last guy who did experienced the ground and pound. :D

I was a late bloomer when it came to weight training. I spent my teens and early twenties either practicing guitar at home or in the bars playing with bands. I spent more and more time in the bars and clubs as i D.J.'d at a few also and alcohol became a prominent factor in my life. By the time i was 26, i had had enough of that lifestyle, so i quit being a D.J., quit drinking and borrowed a bench and weight set from my brother that was collecting dust in his basement.

I trained at my house for a few months, then i joined the YMCA which at the time had a killer set up. They had a machine room, a free weight room, then a powerlifting room where you could chalk up and do some serious lifting...ahh now they only have one room. I am at another gym now..lol. Anyways to get back to the point, bodybuilding has changed my life. The gym is my sanctuary. It is where it is me and only me against my instincts and human weakness...it is where my character is forged...simply put, it is where i push myself past any thought of failure or giving up..the gym is where i grow not only physically but spiritually and emotionally also.

For self defense pretty much, I was a skinny guy who grew up in a town full of crazy rednecks.

I just stuck with it and its been a part of my life ever since.
