All things being equal, how much weight does a taller guy need in order to look the same, proportion wise, as a shorter guy?

For instance, for a 6'1 guy to look the same as a 5'10 guy weighing 185lbs, how many more lbs would you say is required?

man, it's very subjective as their frame can make a big difference as well. For example, someone with small joints vs. big joints. Wide build vs. small build (bone structure)

Not sure there is any set ratio.

I totally agree.

I was thinking how it's probably at least 7-8lbs per inch since each additional inch requires bone/tissue/water on top of the added muscle needed.

It all depends on bone density and joint sizes muscle belly size etc, DC tries to get guys to be 4 lbs per inch of height...
6 foot would be 288 lbs off season weight....big numbers...
i never got quite there yet...lol

4lbs per inch??? Whoa... I'd have to put on 100lbs, too much drugs and I doubt I could wipe my own ass even. no thanks.

I've always gone for the leaner look (never blew up on juice) and I'm lucky that my arms are short so even though my bi's have never been over 16" they look much bigger. Just have to get jackets/shirts tailored. You tall guys have to work like hell simply due to longer limbs.

at 6'3... tell me about it :(

It's one thing if you don't compete but I compete so trying to do so against guys who are routinely in the 5'8 - 5'10 range sucks lol

lol, you would be a freak if so....Its not meant to be a lean weight...off season with some tubs, like 15 or so percent...Elite guys can get it at 10 percent...from what ive seen...
Hey boss, i couldnt get up stairs very easy and it plain sucked and i dont think ill do it again....Not saying its healthy either, i posted my diet i was doing at the time in the dc thread, it wasnt easy, but its still the mark to shoot for with him...
I sound like im in love with DC...lol...well im not, just a lot of respect:flowers...

Not saying anyone else has to do a boatload of juice, just that I know my body and I would have to become a walking pharmacy to get to that ratio. Wasn't a big guy to start with.

Jesus!! :D :D you took sumo wrestling up hu?

Kidding, 16% is not that bad...some guys go ven hiegher than that during their bulking season--anything goes at anytime..pizza, MCs, Burger King---Gosh I love their stinky poutines so much :D bad I never have them.
The highest I have ever been is probably 13% or 14%.--1.5 years ago when I was 247...dang I was bloated and 3 month pregnant to tripplets during that bulker LOL\\\

One of the reasons I asked is because I'm 6'1 and I was 217lbs as of yesterday, around 12% bf.

I look at a guy like George St-Pierre who is 5'10 and he's 185lbs, around 8% when we see him step into the octagon.

I was playing with math and if I was to go down to 8% bf, I would weigh about 205lbs...but I feel like standing next to him, he would appear a lot more muscular.

You got me there, never been a huge eater. Comes in handy during layoffs (injury, life) when my diet shrinks along with the physique. How many "back in the day" stories have you been told by obese old dudes who used to be 250 rippped lol, they forgot to stop eating when they stopped lifting.

I'll leave others to do the mass monster thang... lol

i got above 20% on a bulker, and was very ****ing large and strong.

Will never get that high again. Max I will ever let myself go is 15% now, and at that, I feel fat.

I would have pegged GSP at 5-6% when he fights

You think? I think athletic performance would be negatively affected at 5%-6%.

From what I understand, pros go down to 3% to 4% but cannot maintain that condition for long, and can't do anything physically demanding at all at that level.

agree. Just can't see a fighter being that lean for a fight. Some padding is required to take the brunt of the impact although he sure doesn't look like he has much padding!

4lbs/inch, so I'd have to hit 284lbs. 60 more lbs of muscle, may take a few years w/o drugs.

I always went by 10lbs/inch for comparing people of different heights at the same bf%. Although like everyone else said, too many variables to consider.

better get moving then.......
:shock

He has quite few guys that do it.....not sans drugs, being decently hard, and a lil puffy would be very much a challenge au naturel...
not contest shape, when you hit this mark, then you diet down...He had originally wanted 285 lbs for off season, then drop 45 or so lbs for contest...which would be 3 lbs and a little bit per inch at contest
