Anyone ever read any research on Arimidex taken at 0.5mg eod and how it relates to reductions or gains in bodyfat? I read in another forum that some guy was taking 0.5 eod, while off a cycle and he claimed that since his estrogen levels were nill, that he was able to drop his bodyfat. Someone else stated that they it caused them to gain weight. After googling it, it seems that weight gain with women who have breast cancer while on Adex is a problem.

Any thoughts???? It has me curious now.

never thought of it but isnt the test/estro a balance? so too much test and you get lots of estrogen. so if you kill all the estrogen wouldnt your body naturally balance that out, and with no steroids, means no test?

i could be wrong, i often am.

Some doctors who do Hormone replacement therapy in gents who have really low Test level, prescribe Arimidex for those who do not want to inject, take orals, or use gel. Some doctors say it brings test levels almost to normal since these guys have problems with their test being converted to easily to estrogen. I am still curious what this would do to weight/bodyfat storage as estrogen is what makes us store more fat.

I just read an article that supports that estrogen suppression will cause weight gain, in both men and women.

So it looks like taking adex, may encourage the body to store more body fat.

here is a conflicting argument that I found from another dr. So I am again a bit confused with my original question.....

Hormone abnormalities also have a major role to play in creating obesity. Estrogen causes fat storage and weight gain. Fat cells produce and secrete estrogen and the enzyme aromatase. When we gain weight the increased stored fat produces more aromatase. which is responsible for converting androstenedione and testosterone into estrogen. Higher levels of estrogen also promote insulin resistance, which is a state where large amounts of insulin are nearly worthless at lowering blood sugar values by burning up the sugar molecules. To make this problem even worse estrogen causes the slowing of metabolism when excessive estrogen binds to thyroid hormone (triiodothyronine). Metabolic slowing from estrogen’s thyroid effects and the impaired burning of glucose subsequent to insulin resistance causes the body to store calories as fat instead of burning them.as a source of energy. Steady weight gain has thus been created by too much environmental estrogen added to the effects of an increasing quantity of internally produced estrogen from the aromatase conversion of androstenedione and testosterone into estrogen.. Obviously dieting and exercise are doomed to failure as they do not resolve the problem of hormone imbalance.

There is a reason those cattle pellets have estrogen in them as well as androgens. They make the cows FAT! Also having more fat cells means more estrogen.

I just assume estrogen is bad and go from there. Also as we dudes get older the anti-aromatases will be a godsend. Do we get higher estrogen levels as we get older from getting fatter or simply from increased aromatase activity (making us fat and limp)?? hmmm

It seems logical that using adex would help with less fat storage, but there is so much research about how it relates to weight gain. It just does not seem logical to me. Hopefully someone knows of a study that will help settle this question!
