CBB,

Well I see that many of us have this amazing little gadget, that yes it certainly does make our lives so much proactive but at times it also makes our lives hell.

SO I've decided to start a thread where WE can all post manual instructions on how-to use it....there are many features that are not mentioned in the booklet.

I would like to post two to start off the thread and let others jump in. Post questions you may have also so that others may be able to help.
I have helped FC on a couple.

Blackberry has email capability, both outside server such as Yahoo, OR its own--

To check the PIN and your ESN for the device:

On your blackberry desktop find: OPTIONS.
Then scroll all the way down to: STATUS
The next screen will show:
Signal
Battery life
File free in bytes
PIN: *****R*** (both letters and numbers
ESN (dec) ********* This will alwyas be all numbers
ESN (hex)**f***d***e*****j (both letters and numbers.

Keep in mind that to connect blackberry to blackberry messenger chat program, you will need to have your friends PIN and ESN entered in your device's memory.

To create a blackberry account:

go to www.bell.blackberry.com
A screen will pop up, now hit the "CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT" option in the middle of the page
You will be prompted to End User Agreement.
Check off the box that says: I have read and understand the Legal Terms and Conditions
Then click: AGREE

Now you will be prompted to enter the PIN and your ESN number---follow instructions to create email account.

An example of how this account will look like at the end of the process:

Canadabodybuilding@bell.blackberry.net

A person can send you emails from any server to your blackberry now, this will include but not always attachments.

I will add many other features in time;)

www.bell.blackberry.com
To log onto this site you will need the user name that you created and the password also.
This is to manage your canadabodybuilding@bell.blackberry.net accounts settings.

Once you have created an email account on bell.blackberry.com, you will also be able to add outside emails addresses to it such as yahoo, msn, hotmail, sympatico accounts.
By activating a yahoo account for example, it means that you will now be able to recieve yahoo emails ALSO sent to your blackberry's device.

So now you do not need to forward any emails to you blackberry. You will simply get ONE copy sent to your PC's server (yahoo...sympatico...or...) and ONE copy sent to your device.
The device will prompt you prior to deleting an email on your blackberry, if you want to delete the email ON your device only OR both the device and the copy sent to your PC.
I have a sympatico account set up, so I had to upload a sympatico icon onto my pc, so that blackberry.com sends the emails to me.

I will discuss on how to set various ring tones, how to upload a picture to incoming calls. how to hide your personal number while sending out texts, how to activate various levels of ring levels...how many times can your device ring before the msg center picks up...

From this wet site, there are settings that will allow you to customize a fun and personalized signature to all of your outgoing blackberry emails.

Great Idea for a thread BTJ4E!! I just got a Bold for xmas... still don't know what the hell i'm doin'.... Can't figure out how to change any ring tunes for msgs (just calls) lol.... and havn't figured out how to set up how many rings before msg center picks up... among many other things i'm sure... lol

If/when I actually figure something out, I will be more than happy to share that knowledge, until then...
