Hey all. My doc wants to put me on Proscar® because of my enlarged prostate. I'm having so much trouble pissing, Flomax® no longer works, so I'm considering it. This is the problem for me: If Proscar works by cutting back on the DHT in one's blood, isn't that cutting back on androgens in general? Now, of course, I don't want that. So why don't I run Test at the same time?

Question is: Is running Proscar while also running Test self-defeating? I mean will the Test overwhelm the good the Proscar is trying to do or, conversely, will the Proscar overwhelm the good the Test is trying to do?

I would worry about getting your prostate working first if it was me. The test will still work as it just inhibits the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Many bodybuilders use this product for prostate and hair loss.

Newer research points to dht as not being the primary culprit as much as a high estrogen/androgen ratio- heard that on one of the muscle radio chat shows for a new dht supp. Not sure how accurate it is.

Thanks for the feedback; however, I don't think that's likely considering the general consensus in the medical community and the years of successfully treating BHP with Proscar (finasteride). It could well be that a DHT supplier might argue otherwise.

I'm pretty lean and use Adex pretty regularly, so I don't think my estro is particularly high. Had a blood work up early last fall that indicated the estro was within normal range too.

Your advice is encouraging, though, SM. Was worried I might have to give up exogenous androgenic gear just when it's beginning to be so effective & plays such an important role in my life.
