Carnitine

According to my friend (the manager of a supplement store in my town) some forms of carnitine are illegal to sell in Canada. Anyone here take it with any success comparable to like ECA or other fat burning stacks?

yup, L-Carnitine is illigale in Canada and no its not as potent as ECA stack.

Pretty sure Acetyl-L-Carnitine (sp?) is illegal. I know it's used in fat burners in the states, especially home-made formulas. I know, 'cause I looked into it a long while back.

I've used L-Carnitine (1g pre-cardio and 1g pre-workout) in conjunction with EC and didn't notice any appreciable difference with or without it. Maybe some benefit at higher doses, I don't know. If you do try it I expect you'll probably be disappointed. It's fairly cheap in the states at pharmacies, but in Canada much too expensive. Pretty sure both acetyl and plain L-Carnitine are illegal to bring in to or sell in Canada, though they are on some Canadian online sites.

In terms of fat loss I do not think that carntine is anything special. I have tried both ALCAR and LCLT and did not notice fat loss from them, but then I was not trying to achieve that either.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine ISNOT illegal l-carnitine is.(loop hole) and Acetyl-L-Carnitine is like 80X more active so 0.5-1g gose ALONG WAY. i use it daily. AND i FEEL IT to thos that will say it dont do shit try it the Acetyl-L-Carnitine one. 1-2g ed. along with 1gturine its nice.

The original theory for taking carnitine was that it is needed to bind to fat for movement into the mitochondria. After being bound (fat+carnitine) it is actively moved into the mitochondria by an enzyme...This is, probably, the rate limiting step of fat entering in the mitochondria which is also the limiting step of oxidation...SOO if you could increase carnitine levels in the muscle, then you may be able to increase the rate of transport and therefore increase the amount of fat oxidized. If this was true it could increase the reliance on fat metabolism during rest (increased fat loss) and exercise (increase exercise intensity or time to exhaustion)...

Unfortunately, from what i can recall, carnitine will enter the blood stream, but fails to get into the muscle to increase carnitine levels...

both are banned in canada. acetyl and l-carnitine. but some stores carry it, u just have to ask.
