How many sets do you usually do per muscle group?
Do you pyramid the weight or keep it the same but change the amount of reps?
1 exercise/1 working set.....depending on bodypart i may do up to 2 warmups but they are just for me to get acclimated to the weights.....

As many sets as it takes for me to work up to my main set...usually 4 for the first exercise and 2-3 for the next 3-4 exercises per bodypart. Always one, maximum two main sets. Depends on how i am feeling...always go by how you feel. Listen to your body...that's the key i think.
Some people need more volume to grow and some people can do less with good intensity and still grow well.

A bit confused... can you guys post examples? I've started a new routine with 2 exercises per muscle group with 4 sets per exercise of 8-12 reps. I'm looking to get the most effective possible combination of sets/exercises for a 4 day split, working muscle groups twice/week.. but I'm having a hard time figuring it all out.

I do 4 sets of most movements unless I"m supersetting.
Chest.. 4 sets 4 movements..16 sets total. Sometimes 20 if I put in lower cable pulls.

Chest/Back/Legs
1-3 warmup sets then 2-3 movements of 1 set to failure with 1-3 restpauses
calves and abs are the only exeption to the rule as with abs Im doing alot more reps with 2-3 exersizes and calves only one exersize 1-3 warmups and 1-2 working sets to failure with alot of forced stretching and restpauses.

Hmm.. ok, so any recommendations to a 4 day split working each muscle group twice a week, how many exercises and how many sets per exercise would be good for this?
There's so many different ways, and everyone seems to have their preferred way of doing things.. I've had some good results so far with how I've been doing things, but I've definitely plateaued and really need something to blast through it...
