Ok, heres the deal, i spent a year bulking did an alright job and gained some muscle but alot of fat too. Im about midway through the palumbo keto and am preparing to start a fresh bulk this time with a solid bulk meal plan...

I've never used a weight gainer and/or know what they really do... im assuming they just aid in packing on fat/muscle as fast as possible. Yet my goal is to gain size with less fat as last time.

As well i was thinking of making my own, i read somewhere you can mix oatmeal, protein powder, ice cubes, milk, peanut butter for similar results?

Any advice? Any recipes?

the home brew recipe you just stated above is really your best bet when it comes to getting good whole sources of cals. if you choose to go powder route, nothing is better than cytosport's CYTOGAINER. in terms of ratios of cals, vitamin fortified, added creatine, bovine colostrum, etc etc. most gainers just pack full of shit carbs / sugar. it never hurts to have a tub of gainer kicking around if you need to grab something quickly on your way out the door. muscle milk seems to work well for me when looking to pack on more size. its much lower in carbs, but it has a good amount of healthy fats that will keep you feeling full and slowly release the protein into your system.

Definitely make your own if you have the time; Most gainers use empty-sugars like Dextrose/Maltodextrin for their carb source. Grind up the oats in a coffee grinder ahead of time; other carbs sources are milk, bananas/fruit/frozen berries. Fats are Peanut Butter, Coconut Oil, etc, and then add some of your own whey protein and voila.

With my long work hours i had to pick up a gainer for extra calories i always used Musclejuice when bulking. If you have the time thoughout days make your own then thats a better choice.

theyre great i mix 2 up and leave them in the fridge overnight for the next day.
Taste is great with either vanilla or chocolate protein.
For my 2nd shake of the day i use extra virgin olive oil instead of p/b because i find it doesnt make me as full so i can have another meal sooner.

Make it at home if you can. I even make up lower calorie shit as a good meal replacement to get the food down.
