I've developed an extreme case of shin splints over the past week whenever I walk more than 10 meters...
I'm in week 9 of my cycle of Test-E 500mg/wk.
The first 4 weeks were also included dbol at 30mg/day. I was getting shin pumps walking but nowhere near the pain I'm experiencing now.
Any ideas what could be causing it? I walk 10 minutes to work and I had to take 3 breaks on my way home tonight..felt like my tibia bone was gonna break in half walking at a leisurly pace.
I'm wondering if my calves (which I've been working hard this cycle) have gotten so strong that I have some sort of muscular imbalance..?
Any help appreciated! :fback

Well its not the dbol. Thats long gone out of your system. Prior to the cycle were you doing cardio? Were you having this problem then?
The only thing I can recommend is put ice on your shins before you train/run/walk. After a while the muscle on your shins should strengthen and you should be ok. At least thats how it worked out for me.

Was caused by my shoes.. you change your shoes recently? Tightened them?

have you been running alot? skipping.... ballistic work?
if ur feet r hanging what is the natural position of ur feet? plantar flexion (toes lower then heel) dorsi flexion? (opposite of plantar flexion) or nutral (basically even)?

since I started started using shin splints have gotten retarded... no matter what i'm using... i think it's like the lower back pump thing but in the shins.
I had to do 500 jumping jacks one day and my shins just about exploded the way you described... it took a while before I got used to it. like months... and even then sometimes it would flare up and suck.
I remember reading logs of guys getting ready for shows and they had the same thing from just walking on a treadmill... I will say your case sounds a little extreme though. I think it's just a price for playing the game man.
I also think it's the reason a lot of mma guys get caught for winstrol and EQ... I don't think either of those really cause the biggest pumps so maybe that helps them with all the skipping and stuff... that's just off the top of my head and I might be full of crap.

The more research I do, the more I'm starting to think it's Chronic Compartment Syndrome.
I'm thinking the sudden increase in bw (gained 20lbs), the huge increase in calf strength (was working calves 2-3 times a week, and nearly doubled my strength on them) and the waterweight I'm carrying are causing my calve muscles to be too large for the fascia that surrounds them..leading to inflammation, and too much pressure.
Anyone dealt with this before?

Bingo...you are correct and the muscle involved is the anterior tibialis...located on the front part of your leg. Before starting cardio do some stretching of this muscle. Stand on a block or stairs on your heels and let your toes fall until you feel a good stretch. Do a few sets of these prior to cardio and it should help alot. Also taking creatine causes this condition alot because of the quick increase in muscle size due to cell volumization (water retention within the cell)

I have the same problem but, oddly enough, I get it only on my right shin. Never have a problem with my left shin??? It is worse on orals than with injectable. MIT, SD even Epi gave me bad splints and, yes, I think its like the lower back pumps. I usually have to stop and stretch out the right leg during my 5k cardio walks

I'm the same way..only my right tibia feels like it's gonna 'snap' in half when i walk.
It's my dominant leg..might have something to do with it.

I feel your pain Bro. As mentioned earlier I would bet your anterior tibialis is just under developed. On top of stretching, do direct exercises that can help with the imbalance.
