I did a glute shot last thursday night and woke up friday with a lump at the injection site. It was really sore, so sore I couldn't sit on it or rollover on it while sleeping. There is no redness, irritation or heat coming from it. It's just sore. It's saturday at 5 in the morning right now and the pain has subsided alot but the lump is still there.
I did two things different for this shot:
1- used a 22g instead of a 25g cause I ran out
2-Pumped it in a little faster cause of the bigger gauge
So do I have an abcess or did I just piss of the muscle by using a bigger needle and shooting faster? What should I do?Jam in a needle an try and pull anything out?
I'm shooting profina ED and every other shot has been fine.

Usually an abcess is followed by sickness. I have gotten what you described on cheek before also. I am sure one of the more knowlagable guys will chime in soon though.

bro it could be caused by a few things a shollow inection a High BA in the stuff your using most likely the meds are sitting there awiting absorbtion i would highly doubt an absess you need to watc out for the following heat redness comming from the lump if you see these things that will tell you iit is an abcess however....Most likely high ba content and well you did put it in fast usualy caused by sust propinate and suspensions as well as winni....

Hmmmmm.....Maybe you didn't shoot deep enough? perhaps some of the oil became entrapped in your skin, and that is why you have a bump? 1 or 1'5 inch pins?, and if 1' inch, do you put the pin in the full inch?

BTW, i once didn't shoot deep enough into my arm, and it left a little welt that disappeared within a week or so. That is why i ask ;)

Medium bumps are generally ok as long as they are not accompanied by discoloration ... in that case you need an anti-b.
It should be noted that any time a reaction from an injection lasts longer than 48hrs an anti-b is strongly recommended.

If it is just sore with no heat or redness then it is most likely just a inject where you caused more trauma the normal. The speed of injection could easily do this as well as moving the pin more than you usually do etc.
DO NOT try to drain it yourself........no heat, no fever=no infection.........probably just irritated......

I always use 1 1/2 inch for glutes. And I bury it all the way.

Sounds exactly like a shallow injection which can be nasty (I remember the pics of that guys delt from nexus) even though you went with an 1 1/2" pin it may have came up to dermis level. I've done this in my peck that stayed for 2 weeks. The only trouble I had was explaining to my gf what it was, I said a zit?? Ibuprofen plus time and you should be gtg.

I've had huge lumps in my ass before, even had the swelling spread to other parts of my body... pretty scarey, but in the end I was fine. I've had my lower back get swollen up, and it's moved onto my hip and outer quad before... pretty sure it was all caused by high BA...
I'm a fan of icing it... whenever i got really swollen the heat almost made it worse.. but the ice would bring the swelling down... That's just me though.

As boss had mentioned, it sounds like product that hasn't absorbed and is sitting in the demis/muscle layer. Massage to move product around and heating pad, bath, hot water bottle to allow better circulation and get the product moving.

Man I've had so many of these now they don't even phase me.
If it gets sore the next day, it's not an infection.
If it gets progressively worse over the next few days, then you might want to go to a doctor. However, if it gets better over the next few days then it's nothing to worry about.
For me, just about every shot causes next day pain/soreness. I had one where I got two big welts that were warm to the touch and itchy. I got pretty worried, but someone here suggested the oil leaked up to the surface.. sure enough, that's what it was.
Other times, it just feels like a charlie horse and goes away in a couple days.
Larger gauge needle and injecting quickly were probably the factors that caused the soreness if you've never experienced this before.

Well boys, it's now monday and all the pain is gone and the lump is almost completely gone. Still a little one. Thanks for everyone's input. I was nervous for awhile. I never experienced this before. I know the gear good that's why I couldn't understand why I had the lump. Oh well is all good now.:yeah
