Ice it and go to the doc to check it out. If it's an injury, it is best to heal it properly as you'll need that knee the rest of your life. It might just be a strain and in need of rest. But why not go check it out.

I've been pretty fortunate that I haven't had any serious knee problems in my life... but since I started to lift some decent weight my knees have been bugging me.

At times it's been so bad I couldn't train without going through my stretching warm up... and then I had to swallow a lot of pain.

In the end it was almost all IT band pain. Anyone who does a lot of squats or their variations is eventually going to have some it bad tightness that's going to mess up the knees.

I don't know if that's the case here... but it's somthing to look into... every time my knees start to act up, I roll around on a foam roller... or in my case a piece of PVC pipe and it eventually clears up.

Good luck man.

Ya a friend who is a trainer has one of these foam roller and he said it help out with leg and hip pain.I did it one day and it helped but it is hard to do just from the bodyweight putting pressure on the foam roller.
But back to you Boss go see a RMT for some deep tissue massage, and they will let you know how bad your injury is,or what kind of injury you have.

Ice, Pennsaid, Adequan, and rest will all help. Have it checked out by a reputable Chiro for any structural damage... an xray or MRi may be required as well. Sounds like an acute case of tendonitis but there could be some minor quadricep tendon or patellar tendon strain as well. If you are close to Toronto one of the best to see is Dr. Joe Kottoor...he works with the Toronto Raptors and is an expert on diagnosing knee injuries. Sometimes its tough to see him but he will diagnose you cna have you on the road to recovery in three visits or less...trust me.
Also Dr Ken Kinakin is another great Chrio who works with many athletes, MMA, Powerlfiting, BB etc he is in Mississauga and works wonders as well.
Just google each Doc to get their contact info.

where is the pain exactly? can you describe the area/pain?

a few weeks back i was doing squats (a double at 90% max) and my knee collapsed in a bit, after the set i was sore as ****..took about 2 weeks to go away!
I figured that i slightly strained a ligament in my knee (probably mcl)..
scared the shit out of me frankly,

Unless it's swollen, i'd just 'RICE' it. If, after rest, it comes back, then i would go get it check out...
if it's swollen, get it checked out tho
