Background:
I have been plagued with some facial acne, and cystic bacne for a few months since I stopped my cycle. Of course this is not new to most - this is the time our hormones are in a state of flux. I have used stevemycin (sp?) creme which contains a topic antibiotic and the same chemical found in accutane. it worked quite well at drying up the offending lesions. However, it did not 'cure' them. They remain in a dried state indefinitely - scabs would form which would never heal.
Solution:
So I figured I would try dabbing some 'tea tree oil' on my acne, and scabs once or twice per day. Well, I'll be damned! within a day i started to notice the acne and scabs going away and my face and back clearer. What i had struggled with on and off for many years with different prescriptions was right under my nose the whole time.
Give this a try. You can find this strong smelling oil in any health food store.

tea tree oil stinks. i'm still on the prevention bangwagon. my shoulders got messed up last june and i kept having breakouts MONTHS afterwards. still got scarring as I'm a squeeezer. keep the blackheads/blocked pores away and you won't get acne. 20mg of accutane/day with the occasional day off is working wonders so far.

I heard accutane screws your liver, has strong sides and makes it easier to tan.

There are varying qualities of tea tree oil fwiw...
I had one that worked amazingly well.. just ran out and was using another brand from Australia that didn't do shit... I have another one now that's very potent and is working well.
So if you don't have luck with it, perhaps try another brand, ask the person in the shop if they can recommend one that is of good quality (hopefully they're knowledgeable enough to recommend one) and you may have better luck...
But yeah the shit stinks so be sure to put it on hours before you go out... there's no masking that stuff with anything.. you'll just end up stinkin even worse. Better to use it at night before going to bed.

anyone know if there is an advantage of using tea tree oil over olive oil?

olive oil?? never heard of that before.. seems strange to put oil on oily skin... i don't know of any antibacterial properties in olive oil either. i'd say tea tree oil is better to use.
what's important to note though is that it isn't a preventative cure.. it's effective for spot treatments, but does virtually nothing in preventing break outs.. unless you keep yourself constantly covered in the stuff... but that'd be stinky and would eventually irritate the skin.

Mine is called Aromaforce. It works very well. Potent stuff!
Haha, I guess I wasnt the pioneer I thought I was. Seems everyone knew about this 'breakthrough' before me.
yes, its true it takes a good hour for the smell to subside. i just put it on when i know i wont be leaving the house for a few hours.
all my scabs have cleared up now thanks to a few days of use (twice per day). amazing stuff!
just be careful about puttin it on sensitive skin. i put alot on some stubborn ones on my upper chin over a few days, and it turned red. wouldnt go away for a few days. i looked like a tool
