We live in a country full of natural resources and an east coast whose livelihood is based on fisheries yet whenever i buy frozen fish it's always imported.
I do most of my shopping at loblaws/longo's and almost 95% of their frozen fish (not the breaded capt highliner crap) whether it's cod, tilapia, basu, pollock is imported from china, vietnam, or some other far east country.
Where's the fuk'n pride in this country ! I understand the economics of business and obviously these companies are paying pennies to bring these fish from halfway across the world versus paying dollars to have them trucked from the east coast but at whose expense?
It's fairly well known esp in China their quality standards are ****ing shit or even non-existent. The chinese officials in charge of the state FDA are usually on the take. China produces fake food products all the time . Maybe someone can correct me but i think not too long ago they found some type of chemical melamine in farmed fish who were fed wheat gluten imported from china . It's bad enough all of our consumer products are imported from the far east but even frickin' fish???
At the end of the day it's all about profit and none or very little consideration
for public safety
