I have to put this out there. Lately, there has been so much anti-american attitude bullshit going on by Canadians that it makes me sick. I have family (some Canadian, some American) that live and work in the U.S. Yes they are involved in a messed up war over oil, and yes they have made serious mistakes on foreign soil. They are also in DEEP debt right now and are in a complete economic crisis. BUT, if you are one of those people that casts off all Americans as Ignorant, or Red Necks, then you my friend are a RACIST. If you changed up the country to any obviously ethnic country where the peoples skin colour is changed, and you had the same attitude you would be labeled a racist so fast, you might lose your job if you made these comments openly at work. These are our neighbours to the south and would have our backs to the end if anybody attacked us, as we have little to no military of our own. Lets not forget we do BILLIONS of dollars of trade with these people, vacation on their soil, shop in their discount stores cross border, and openly enjoy their television and movies. This anti-American attitude has to stop. Our future depends on their economic stability and we need them to grow as a nation. No more racism from Canadians please.

That said I love traveling to the States.. I actually find Americans 100x more friendly than us Canadians. I live in Toronto and I find Toronto the coldest, unsociable city i the world. Even New Yorkers are more friendly than Canadians. On second thought- **** Canada. I don't know where they get that bad rep. from.

This is my American story. when I was a young lad out of high school I was invited to go down to wildwood, NJ for two weeks. My cousin has a beach home down there. I said wtf would I want to spend two weeks in NJ where it's full of NJ, New Yorkers, and philedephians? He said " You'll see".

I went down and had a ****ing blast. Never been laid so much in a short time in my life. Had a new chick every night and every one was great to party with. I never looked back. I go to the States every time I can go. I love Americans and they party hard and know how to have fun. I love America.

Some of the lamest people I meet are right here in TO, it's a very unfriendly city.

The media gives a real nasty view of America and Americans. Yes I know it's their media but they tend to concentrate on what's shit about America. So if you judge based on that you'll hate them too.

I agree, America used to be inhabited by hard working people that were industrious, driven and intelligent, through their blood and sweat they built a great country, which was then given to their slothful offspring who are currently ruining what had been bestowed upon them.

I am not in any way angry, but to automatically have to like somebody because of their proximity to where I live, regardless of what they let their governing bodies do, is not something I am about to do. I like individuals, not groups.

it's easy to make generalizations about people whether they're american or canadian but the reality is they're are racists/ignorant/dumb people on both sides of the border.
Sometimes the media can also influence how people think of others. I've watched Jay leno when he has done man on the street quizzes asking americans the most basic questions and they all come off as ignorant ****tards. but obviously they only show the dumbest people which gets the biggest laughs

Its not all bush's fault, its american foreign policy that has caused america to be hated, the american government chose to become a militaristic nation after ww2 mostly due to the fact there was so much money involved and the threat of russian domination, and have since been spreading a form of capitalism more closely related to imperialism throughout the world. In fact you can blame alot of the problems within developing countries on american foreign policy, as they replace one puppet dictator with another as they see so fit to improve there trade relations with that country. Its all there in history, just open the book, in my opinion the average american isnt dum but from my experience they are very isolated within their own country.

The fact that very few on average will ever question what their own government is doing is sad though.
