Does anyone have a Can-Fit-Pro Certification? Is it worth it?

I live in a small town so i guess its hard to get clients and the gyms here only pay like 10$/hr.

Its basically a money grab. They created their own certification and gyms throughout Canada recognize it. It will help you get a job as a PT but youll need experience and knowledge which it wont give you. It is a rubber stamp in the industry that is all...the rest is up to you. To be a decent trainer requires number one...experience training correctly yourself. Number two...a decent background in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and biomehanics...physics does help as well.
If you have the above then its just a formality to get you in the door...but it wont teach you much, in fact alot of the information is incorrect or ambiguous anyway

I agree 100%... Goodlife actually owns Can-Fit... I did the course a little over a year ago before opening my own gym... the guy who gave the course was clueless... we got into a whole debate about being able to workout without carbs in your diet... During the practical portion of the course, the students turned to me for advice and guidance as the instructor knew very little...

It was a TOTAL waste of my time and money... when it comes to hiring staff I look at real world experience and legitimate certifications, like Durham College's 2 year Fitness program... My chief trainer has a U of T Kenesiology degree...

Having said all this... if you are looking to become a trainer at a big gym like Extreme or Goodlife... Can-Fit will help you get in the door...

For pure insurance reasons I can't hire anyone without certification. The majority of people I see have a CanFit cert simply because it's easy and quick. I've interviewed people with CPTN, ISSA, ACE, Kin grads, etc. and I've rejected candidates for the same reasons - few people can teach another person proper technique and create programs to reach a clients goals more efficiently. Any trainer can kick a clients ass for an hour, few can make them consistently make them better.
