Are these phones worth it or just a waste of money? I'm looking for something I can surf the net with or read email but require decent viewing capability. If there is something better, please recommend.

BOLD rules, curves a close second. The new storm is pain in ass i found, mainly because i hate the touch texting

Blackbeery loveéhate relationship at the moment with me (see rave and rant section for personal endulgment).

As an over all I give the blackberry curve an 8.5--I think it has a lot of improvements, but then again, the entire global network is breaking walls as we speak.
The transition between analog onto digital has taken the world by the hand and into an amazing more comfortable era? Ok maybe for those who fly the waves daily.

If you are into gadgets, into staying in touch with friends via email, texts, are into little perks like cell cam, voice recorded notes, calendar on the go WITH alarms to remind you, agenda, and if you are into the biggest source of world wide info THE NET, then the blackberry will provide alll those I so-call "perks" and much more.
I specially LOVE the small key-board like.
I also love the fact that \I can password lock my phone and while in my pocket prevent it from accidental calls.

No I don't rep for Bell or Blackberry, so don't ask me: LIST ME or else :D :D

on a 3 year plan the dingleberry will cost you under 200.00, but if you like to go yearly, then it can be bought for 625.00 I believe. FULL WARRANTY both on parts and software for the first 12 months.

for pure business use you will not get better than BB. Bold is supreme but World Phone is a close second. I wouldn`t touch a curve personally.

If you are looking for a bit of email but mainly looking for mobile browsing and `time killing` then go with Iphone.

If BB ever makes a combination iphone type browsing experiencing with the keypad for email and text communications I will jizz my pants.

So what are you saying natan? that I must change for the supreme aparatus?

I am a business owner and keeping email contact is a primary function for me, I also need access to over 200 phone numbers and texts 24/7.
One of the features I specially like about the "BB" is the mass text feature...also and not to overlook at the email software, that incorporates ALL similar features as yahoo, or sympatico. (CC, BCC, FORWARDING.....)

I have been trying to copy paste my data onto my PC from "BB" but I am having difficulties...Thursday day time, I have a few hours to spare and I am heading into a Bell store to deal with the defective "BB"

I am not into the Iphone, I just hate the touch screen. I MUCH prefer the key board-like, the triball....I am willing to explore ideas over the curve:)

I've used iphone just over a year and blackberry for almost 6 months now [curve and bold] and numerous other smart phones (wm, palm). these have all been great phones for me. you can't beat the iphone for web browsing and multimedia but if data and digital communication is a big part of your life the BB is better. When I first switched to the BB from the iphone I felt it was clunky because of all of the abrupt button clicking, the looseness of the trackball and having to scroll through icons and lists rather than going directly to what I wanted... now that I've gotten used to the phones I've grown to appreciate that I get my business done faster and better with the BB. I broke my bold a short time ago and luckily still had my iphone so I popped my sim in while I waited for my new bold. I was only back on my iphone for a couple of days but I couldn't wait to get back to my berry; the interface seems slicker on the iphone but speed and customization rule in my life. Interestingly, I also noted better quality voice, more wifi range and better bluetooth with the blackberry.

If you're not with Rogers forget I said anything... although the 8900 looks pretty nice; too bad it doesn't have faster data

I pay $30/m for 6GB of data (tethered, BIS, streaming radio) but I don't think that price is around any longer.

I'm with Rogers. The price seems decent. Just need to decide on the phone.

how many emails do you receive/send in a day?
how many email accounts?
text messages?
how many hours listening to music?

bah, there are too many differences forget I asked any questions; I'm just going to sum up my opinion and let you sort it out. BB is superior for communication and iPhone is superior for entertainment but each one is a pretty good all-rounder. For the way I use my phone I'm sticking with the BB and won't even be keeping my iPhone as a backup any longer... after getting used the the Bold, iPhone was infuriating.

If you have any specific iPhone [1st/2nd gen] or Blackberry [Curve/Bold] questions let me know. Wife has my 3G iPhone but I have a 1st gen with the latest OS for sale :)

Here is my plan with Bell:

-free calls from 6PM to 8AM evenings and free weekends
-1000 day time minutes per month
-2500 texts monthly--I've hit under 1000 ever, and that is a lot
-large voice mail with personal greetings, and up to 25 5 minute voice msgs
-UNLIMITED internet access, and UNLIMITED uploads, ring tones, pictures...WOW--emails back and forth....much more

Bell is charging me $84.00 plus taxes which I don't think is bad at ALL. I used to pay around 50.00 before Blackberry.

B2J[/QUOTE]

I'm curious, does your unlimited internet include tethering, streaming audio and VOIP? The reason I ask is that most unlimited offers have fine print with a cap on data or restrictions on the types of data that are allowed under the "unlimited" umbrella. I guess the real question is... is it unlimited data or is it unlimited browsing+email+...

BTW, this is not a pissing match; I'm just trying to understand what Bell has to offer since I haven't had a phone with them in almost 2 years.

I have the Curve right now with the data package. I love it. Eventually I will upgrade to the Bold, I'm just waiting for another price drop as I just bought my Curve last year...

7100i is 3.5 years old... every 3 year old cell phone sucks when compared to the phones today. Does this surprise you?

The only part of Blackberry I care for is the stock. Wondering if I could make a quick 15% if I time it right. hmmmm

if you're eligible for an upgrade you could get the upgrade price on a new unit and sell it at the no-contract price for a huge return

RIM [consumer goods in general] stock is high risk right now but cell phone arbitrage is strong :)
