google it man... i 'm too tired to figure out but if i believe it's to allow to attach Sata protocoled external devices. if you have everything you need don't worry. 1o yrs ago i paid 7500 for a Toshiba with infared never used as we were Lan hard-wired.

Desktops for home and laps for business travel or work to home but a 16 gb stick would suffice.

just google sata ports and you'll get a more accurate answer than mine,,,

good luck

NCIX is good for pretty much everything and you can pricematch any other site too.

If you are going to run a Sata external drive, wait until April. They are releasing new Terrabite sized drives, to compete with the new 250Gig composite drives, and the prices will drop on regular sata devices.

Ok, english please :D
What's a composite drive??

I read that eSata is about 3x faster than usb. But when usb 3.0 comes out in 2010, it will be the fastest.

Pretty much all computer stores will at least carry some Vantec enclosures. FYI I don't consider Future Shop or Best Buy etc computer stores :) NCIX is a great online computer store and one I've used quite a bit, they also price match any Canadian website which is a bonus.

As for hard drives you have a ton of options really. Westen Digital has released a 2TB hard drive recently, not sure on availability just yet. Seagate has a 1.5TB drive, and 1TB drives are made by all companies. If you don't need a whole lot of space but speed is very important (Audio Recording and editing) I'd go with the Western Digital Black 640GB. Make sure it's the Black version as the others are slower. Otherwise go with whatever company you feel comfortable with. I've been leaning towards Western Digital myself as Seagate has had some recent issues with their drives.

Putting together a hard drive and enclosure is very easy so don't worry about buying things seperately. Plus it's usually cheaper that way.

Yes, eSATA is the fastest right now and USB3 will be even faster then that.

Hope that helps.
