I've never really needed cardio (high metabolism) but I'm gettin up in years and its starting to become something I know I need more prominently in my routine. I have been building a home gym over the last year and its time for the elliptical now. I don't have thousands to spend on a high end commercial thing, and I'm not going to abuse the hell out of it, so I was wondering anyone's thoughts on this particular product:

I have an opportunity to get it from someone in my neighbourhood for well under a grand. Its practically brand new.

if you are willing to spend 1000 dollars, look at some sales that sears has, or take a look over at costco.ca, they have a really nice reebok machine. Plus alot of others. If you buy new, you get the warrenty.

I too am building A home gym...its gonna cost a lot, but it will be worth it.
That elli your friend has for sale, what is the going price of it brand new?
Also how long has he had it for?
How many people have used it?
How MUCH use has it had?
|Depending on the price diff, I guess it could be a good buy.
Can you extend the warranty on it??
I am dying to purchase a spin bike myself, and have seen a couple of beautifuls on line also.
For me, I would want to buy all electricals brand new...but if I came across a deal, I would weights the cons and pros

if you can find a manufacturer refurb one I would buy that. They replace EVERYTHING on it so it's basically like a brand new machine at 50% the cost.

this is a brand new machine, been used 10 times. Retails between $1500 and $2000
Hmmm.. I never really felt right on an eliptical. Maybe if I had a Tony Little clip on ponytail...... it'd feel right :)

Thanks for the heads-up. Now I'm torn between the Reebok elliptical from Costco and the Schwinn spin bike from keystone. I'm leaning towards a spin bike - less electronic components to fail, so less potential maintenance, still cheaper price point.
For the OP, the Costco Reebok X1000 elliptical is $200 off, which is why I am tempted. Costco has a 1 year parts and labour warranty which is nice too. Perhaps we can get Physiques feedback on this one.
