how did BJ quit??? are you talking about the fight itself or did he announce his retirement or something? did i miss something?

personally I think BJ is a good figher but he messed with the wrong guy, GSP is the best of the best IMO.. BJ should stick to his weight class.

I believe his corner stopped the fight, but when there isn't audio it's hard to tell.

Im talking about the fight itself. After the 4th round, he told his corner he couldnt continue and they through in the towel. Joe rogan said the doctor advised him to stop. I also liked BJ before i saw this fight.

dude, his corner threw in, not him. I am not sure how you could lose any respect for someone that got POUNDED for 4 solid rounds by GSP and didn't get knocked out. I'd like to see you take ONE jab from either of the fighters and not start crying like the internet thug you are.

I was watching the PPV. At the end of the round, his corner kept asking how he was, he didnt say anything for the first bit, but then he asked for the doctor 2-3 times.

I wasnt sure I heard right... until they announced the decision as a doctor stoppage.

his brother actually stopped the fight.. It was a good decision, if he went on any longer he would have been in the hospital with brain damage.

BJ has alot of respect from me. The dude has no fear and is willing to fight anyone. That night he was owned by GSP who was the better planned, bigger, and a faster fighter. He did ofcourse talk alot of shit, but don't you think Dana would have encouraged that shit for publicity. Anyone who steps in the ring is no joke.

Although GSP was obviously my favorite for the fight, I must admit, I was starting to feel a little sorry for PENN in that last round.

I felt bad for him as well, but he did talk a ton of smack, so he deserved what he got.. he needs to remain a lightweight..

If BJ wanted to continue he would have. The Dr checked him over and was turning to leave when his brother tapped the Dr on the shoulder and waved it off. It was BJ's call to say no ill continue or not period as he was not ruled ineligible by the Dr. The issue is he called GSP a quiter and then quit himself....so yes people did lose respect for him and rightly so. Next time shut your mouth and just fight...like GSP said...its easy to talk....its difficult to fight!

I wanted it to go another round so it was a proper knock ..Penn is a dick and talked shit way more then GSP. GSP is a character guy..not much more needs to be said.

GSP is a CLASS act to say the least, the way he came up to BJ after he won and im sure his words were nothing short of encouragement.. i can honestly say that GSP is a great role model for many kids growing up and even for guys like us... he's only 27 and already one of the best fighters in history.. and he's canadian to boot, he encourages me to train harder and harder.. I think Joe Rogan said something along the lines that GSP makes guys that are disciplined look lazy, this work ethic and dedication is bar none the best I have ever witnessed in my life.. OH did you guys hear that he is training with Rashad Evans.. thats just awesome.

BJ said "i quit...i quit....i can't do this, man" If you download the ppv you'll hear him say this. His corner threw in the towel to save face.

BJ's a good fighter but he's lazy and nobody except Anderson Silva is on GSP level (and near his weight class).

Maybe keep your tough guy coments to yourself there buckweat. I did lose respect for Bj because he called george a quiter and said he wouldnt stop untill he killed george. (quotes from the ufc primetime show) Then He quit himself. These are heavily trained fighters. He wasnt knocked out, and he wasnt cut bad enough to stop the fight. He plain old quit.

It always intrigues me why these guys need to be such jerks...

Many moons ago when I was doing M Thay the rules where very simple: let your actions talk for you, train hard, kick the other guys ass and show respect for everyone.

This need to talk shit in order to sell the idea just makes me have no regards for the guy.

BJ got what he deserved: PUBLIC HUMILIATION!

Don't watch much of the fight's huh. BJ is a 155 fighter and the best all time at that weight. Have GSP go up to 185 and fight Franklin or Henderson and lets see who you call a loser. Or just for shits and giggles lets have GSP come down to 155 and fight BJ, can you say handed him his ass?

I think GSP would do well against both Franklin or Henderson.... And to come down a weight class, what makes u think he'd be whooped?

You shoulda seen how many pissed off Hawaiian's there were after the fight, im amazed i didnt' see scraps everywhere. They are mean looking sons of bitches lol.

Please Franklin can't defend a clinch. Franklins right near the bottom of the 185 just like his pal Hughes, who is at the bottom of the 170's. They both were good back in the day, but that tide has come and gone.
GSP would be able to handle his own against Franklin. Considering GSP walks around normally in the high 170's low 180's. He wouldn't have to gain or lose to much weight.
Dan Henderson might be a little different but I still think GSP would do alright.

I lost respect for Penn because he didnt train for the fight of his life. He came in fat, and sloppy. Slow, and he underestimated the best.

No respect for the guy anymore. Plus all his shit talk..well, may have been egged for publicity, but please.

If he quit in the ring... well, he is that much lower now. Obviously beaten, but to quit robs the sport. He should have taken his cuts and lumps.

with bj runnin his mouth calling gsp a bitch for quittin,it looks good on him being pounded, then quittin,if your gonna talk it walk it,plus hes lazy, look how gsp trains compared to how bj trains, thats the difference,bj is a quitter in the gym,gsp is a winnerbecause of how he trains and is disciplined.bj couldve improved from there first fight but he relies on his talent, too much ,gsp will continue to improve bj will always be selling himself short because he has no work ethic
