It does matter why it was suspended. Best to ask a lawyer to be sure. You can disclose all your info to them.

My license was suspended in ONTario, i moved to BC with no problems and got a license 3 yrs ago now, never heard anything about it...I had a 6 month suspension at the time....They do however check you for insurance claims, that will be the kicker for you....insurance is very expensive in BC....So your insurance will be what gets you if it was invovlved with your suspension...

Some province/territories require a drivers abstract from your last province before they will issue a new license. Not sure if BC has that or not. Maybe try to do the whole new driver thing and see. There is a system that RCMP use to look-up drivers licenses across Canada.

I was thinking the same..If the life time ban was issued by a Federal Judge
Then it would follow me every were....but due to the nature of the offense
it ended up in the provincial system..Meaning that the condition's stay in Ontario!!!! Now I did hear the RCMP set up a system to cross check Canada
wide WARRANTS, but to my understanding it will not show drivers history...
Only if a warrant has been issued..
P.s. I don't drink!!! Smoke, of any thing else..I have a passion for fast car's/Bikes too many police chases & it's been 5yrs out of the 10yrs that's
LIFE/ Than I can apply to get it back..only 30% due...
Thank you for all the info, HAS ANY ONE HAVE ANY UP 2 DATE INFO? SAME SITUATION????

BC doesnt require a driver history for license, does require claims history for insurance...just went through all of this last week...
AB same as BC....
did you get your license suspended due to criminal charges or provincial level charges (tickets, points)?

Sounds like a series of offenses.....speeding tickets?
Avoiding and failing to stop to an officers call----they would target his plates at a later time---
People that own speed bikes tend to run from Police often....nothing stops a bike at 210 kilometers per hour..>NOTHING!!!
I will enjoy hitting 200k perhour for the first time this summer, when I get my CBR FR1 **** I can't wait!!

So from what i'm understanding IF one was to loose DL in ONT. they can go to BC, and get one, (not insurance)? THEN come back to Ont and apply for insurance there? or am i way off?
Like i know people who lost in Ont then went on holliday to Euope got licence there and then came back.. with i think something as little as two dots above the letter ( i ) or something , BUT part that sucked one of them was pulled over by the lol same arresting officer which he lost the first time.. im sure there's ways, be nice to know in case one gets to many tickets or something innocent.

visiting licenses are only good for 30 days, after that you need to apply for resident status if you wish to continue driving Ontarian roads, or get a special visiting permit/license from the Ontario gov't.

I am certain that the law RE: driving has a lot of flaws or loop holes, one just needs to find those.....from the onset however breaking the law IS breaking the law.
I know that if a person gets licensed in Ontario, he/she can drive anywhere IN North America.---speeding limit may change from town to town.
I also know that the law varies when it comes to Quebec drivers or Quebec rules and regulations.
For Ontarians, if you have a couple of hundred of dollars, I would go and consult ex-cops. I cannot recall the name of the agency, I THINK: TICKETS or something like that. These guys are ex-cops who now work with Civilians in personal cases, such as tickets, convictions and such.
Most of them have taken some light law courses and very able to help you, reduce a sentence or at least lessen the charges.
If I recall the name, I will post it up here.

they require you to surrender your old license in every province you get a new license issued. ICBC will check your autoplus record, and your tickets and suspension will be on it.

NOPE icbc does not check on your points...trust me, i have had many, many. numerous times (7 speeding infractions in a few months prior to my moving from ONT a couple of them were 250 plus dollars), i move a lot and they havent followed me.....So now i have zero....im good...I had a suspended license and now i do not....
MONKA, your license and registration have to be the same province...You have 30 days to get straight, unless like myself and CC own property in multiple provinces, you then are good for 90 days...They care more about insurance claims than tickets etc, never even came up..I havent had an at fault claim for 6 yrs now.
I have never surrendered any of my licenses either, i say i lost it and keep my old one and move on with life, never been an issue either..never surrender your photo ID, if you can help it.....Get a spare one prior to leaving your province and hold one of them..
You need insurance prior to getting registration, or plates...BC is public insurance on 3rd party etc....
Cripes, i didnt even have a full motorcycle license many yrs ago, and i moved and told them i had it, they never checked, werent sure of what the code was for that province....And i never took a driving test to get my full license, many loopholes out there...CC did the same thing as me, so it worked twice now....
I have lived in almost all of the provinces in Canada, and have gone through this a lot..We have 2 vehicles and 2 motorcycles....Like i found out AB i need to get a bike inspection done for my plates, not like that most other places...crappy money grab is all..

I remember ICBC being quite a bit LESS expensive than standard rates in Ontario, but I was like 16 when I was comparing prices so I could be very wrong on adult rates.
You will be able to get a new license in BC, but you may have to start from the beginning of the graduated license program. L...N...full.

^^^ no just say you have full license and away you go, like 5 minutes in and out....no nothing extra, as i said i never even did a drive test and have a full license for motorcycles....
ICBC is comparable with ontario (if clean claims status) more expensive if at fault accidents., but double of albertas, more than double sask, manitoba insurances...

Alberta is apparently great for insurance. My buddy pays less for his 1200cc bike in Calgary than he did for his POS saturn in Ottawa.
When you went in did you have your license card from ONT? I assume they need SOME type of proof, but if they physically took your card when it was suspended you'd be screwed.

I told ONT i lost it somewhere and couldnt surrender it to them, and before they had asked me to surrender license i had acquired a spare paper copy from driver licensing before it was suspended as i knew i was moving and it would be close...It worked out for me...
It got suspended and i had my new license in hand all within a week i believe....I gave them my spare paper copy etc. as my proof of license..
So now if i think of it, i acquire a new spare license before i move for a couple reasons, its a pain in the ass not having photo id while waiting for new license to appear, and in BC, a license is the only photid..not like ont where health card etc are photos..Plus i hate not having it...lol
When CC moved from AB to BC her truck insurance literally doubled, no joke....With a spotless record and over 25 yr old driver, we moved to AB, and its cut in half, also our bike insurance is Half, exactly...

I've seen two things stop a bike going that fast and faster:
1) a transport truck;
2) guard rail
both dead on impact which is a good thing as our health care taxes shouldn't have to pay for ****tards like that

insurance history should show tickets and suspensions, I know when I run them here in On they show HTA violations and suspensions. We also require both abstract and A+ before we insure in Ont. and from what my ICBC contact says, they are supposed to do the same as of 2000.

i hear ya, i can only tell you my experience, as well as CCs...And they did not check, Not debateable...I got 7, yes 7 tix and they were within 6 months, and no checky, checky.I got the full 40 percent reduction onm y insurance fees..which you need a pretty much spotless record for as well..
Ontario ran me through the ringer when i applied there, definitely not the case in AB, and BC....thats all im saying on this matter, i am repeating myself wayyyy to much..

The chase I hit 270k, on 427 n off hwy7..That's when the York copper's came out with

I would put a lot of work into it....;)

Those ****ers have modified cars for sure.
I remember in my early 20s when I got caught on the 401 with my baby beauty black firebird 5.7 I was merely cruising at 225--I had a state of the art gun and radio radar....the next thing I see is this ****ing Sunbird catch up to me---two civilian cops waiving their badges..had me stop, then cruisers came out of from both directions to check me out.
I will never forget that experience. THE only speeding ticket in my life :D suspended license for 30 days and the ****ers impounded my car on the spot for 7 days.
