What are peoples thoughts on the best liver supplements out there. IS liv52 still considered a good product? I recently used a product from AOR called stimuliv. Any other top choices for a good liver cleansing?

thanks

liv 52 is amazing. i used to be an alcoholic, and had liver pain often, even after i quit drinking. I take Liv 52 with alphalipoic acid daily. I only take one liv52 cap, and one alphalipoic acid cap (not sure of dose) and my liver is like it should be.... not noticed.

I've used them all, but I'm not sure any of them work. Any herbal with milk thistle extract, artichoke, & cumin may help, but who really knows? Judging by the ingredients, Liv52 is nothing special, unless there's some ayurvedic magic involved:rolleyes:. Strong free radical cleansers (whatever that really means) like ALA & NAC are probably worth doing, just in case. But likely the best liver defense is plenty of pure red or dark berrry juice like pomegranate, blueberry, açai berry, cranberry, or beri-beri to act as anti-oxidants & to slow aging. It's expensive but worth it. Mixes with non-sweet protein mix well, too. I doubt if anything will actually cure a damaged liver but some of these may help time to heal.

(Okay, I lied about beri-beri, which I think is some African disease.;))

how can the natural ingredients in liv 52 be dismissed by you, and the natural properties of juice be all good?

especially when 99% of everyone who uses liv52 says it g2g

Somewhere I heard that milkthistle binds to certain androgen receptors making things less responsive/absorbed in your body. I know people who swear by liv52 though.

Or this product: "Liver Kombo by Honso Corp"

I had recommended to my by a nutritionist/trainer/cycler.

Milk thistle extract only
Turmeric

I believe that NOW brand makes a liver detox formula with these two combined ingredients. Turmeric in liquid form is a better version, NEW CHAPTER makes a really potent Turmeric detox product. I have had blood work done on Turmeric and lowered my values from the 300's (due to drinking on accutane) to the low 40's in a period of about 5 weeks. Turmeric does work. I second the anti-oixdant idea as berries with a high ORAC value will help remove toxins and free radicals from your body, thus slowing aging and healing your liver and kidneys. Mona Vie is #1 for this if you can afford it.

Well, it's known in advertising as the bandwagon effect (certainly worked for Primorial Performance products too) or perhaps it's the "passed the test of time" product loyalty thing. How would anyone know for sure that Liv52 was effective? All they would know izzat their livers seemed to continue functioning well, and any number of factors – including genetics – could account for that.

And I think it likely that "99%" is a fabricated figure and a good example of faith over reason. Not to be offensive, brother: Go ahead & use whatever you feel is effective:rolleyes:.
