I think I hurt my rotator cuff squatting. WTF?

I am always so careful, and always warm up my shoulders.... I do not understand what happened.

Anyone here ever **** their shoulder up squatting?

yep my left shoulder/scapula is usually sore after a good squat session.

i blame it on un-consciously pushing up on the bar with my arm instead of just letting the bar rest and keeping it in place.

i get the same issue.. I dont know whats wrong with me lately, but i cant do normal squats any longer, i cant seem to wrap the bar with my hands and let it rest on my shoulder ( flexibility?) either way, i do front squats now and laying the bar on my shoulders really sucks, my front delts are sore for a week after i do them.. HELP!

i dont know what I am going to do. This one seems like a real legit rotator cuff tear. lateral straight arm raise is painful, and weak. never had this before.

go see a chiro bro.. you need to get that checked out or else it could become a serious issue.

definitely rest it and get an mri done if it could be bad. Im an autoworker, and suffer RSI's all the time... i take great care of the RC's cause they are a sensitive joint and take time to repair... if it is a tear, DONT work it! They heal slowly!

i would give the shoulder a few days rest...if it doesn't improve, then you should go see your doc...or get to a physiotherapist. They would be able to asses whether or not you might have a tear.
the only way to be 100% certain is an MRI though.

thanks guys. i am not going to lift for a couple days, and just do cardio. I will also practice snapping one off with the left instead of the right....this could be a good thing for a bit. lol
I will book a dr appointment next week if it is still pissy

Try doing dislocates with a broom stick. Tight shoulders/Shoulder flexibility is an extremely important part of avoiding shoulder problems.

PLers hurt their shoulders and biceps all the time squatting.
Bitch to your gym owner and get a safety squat bar. Things are a godsend and only cost around $300.
