I switch needles after drawing to make sure the needle is perfectly sharp.
How much gear is lost in that process? (How much gear is left in the needle?)

Simple solution:
Draw in just enough to get the oil out of the needle, then when you switch needles all oil will be in the syringe.. you will just loose the bit the one time, not twice.

As a matter of planning, I would say .1cc. That is to say that you aren't gonna get 10 - 1cc shots out of a 10mL vial. Usually ends up being 9 shots. Have seen cycles end earlier than expected because this was never factored in. Not a lot to worry about but may make that 10 weeker a 9 instead.
^^Thats why you should have more gear than you need

exactly what i do...i know i wouldn't be losing a lot, but still do it anyways.

i'm sure i've read of a technique where you draw air into the syringe when you change needles (to pull all the oil into the barrel of the syringe) after u have changed the needle you leave a small air bubble at the back of the syringe, and this air bubble forces most of the oil left in the syringe.
i'm sure i read it in a nursing manual or something
even if you do inject a very small amount of air it wont hurt you....

I dont know how much is left but if your really concerned when your taking your loader off, just before hand pull back some air this will bring all the gear out of the chamber, then switch it up and shoot the air out and the chamber will fill with gear...
