What would you chose or prefer for Potlighting in your house if you were to have them installed? Incandescent potlights that are approximately 6-8” in diameter, directional.
OR Halogen potlights that are approximately 4-5” in diameter, directional, and house a halogen bulb.

halogens get hot, and are a lot of maintenance. If you havea few lights, not bad, but in my basement, I had 30 pots, so I went incandesent. cheaper, but much bigger.

I can have dimmer switches. (maybe you can with halogen????) and it gives a nice warm light.

Halogens can be like 5 bucks a bulb and they do not last

I agree with waderow, Halogen dont last, i have some in my kitchen over top my shelves and they burn out all the time. and they get so hot that if i forget them on they melt the finish on my cupboard doors. so not worth it.

I would go with incandescent.

bro, there is a hundred different styles. You need to go to a lighting shop, and they will have them all set up. There is full size bulb types, half size bulbs, angles, recessed, pretty white ones, black ones, shiny ones, maybe even PINK ones ;)

i don't know why but I saw Pot lighting. Dude you need some T9 florescents to start off the seedlings. then when they are big enough put them under a 1000w metal halide cool grow lamp. ps don't forget to switch out the bulb to a (warm) flowering lamp for well, you know, and kick up the phos.

this is what i've heard, not sure if it would work ;)

Halogen light bulbs are a pain in the arse to change, getting them into the slots in the fixtures. I have nails but if you don't it would be harder yet to hold onto them. We put in lights (not pot light style) in the family room over the fireplace to light the mantel and the 5 bulbs feel like the fireplace is on. 2 have burned out in only the last 2 months.

I'll never use cheap fixtures again over the kitchen sink. The moisture causes the bulb to break off from the metel piece when I try to change them. It's like it seals itself up inside there.

My brother just deep sixxed his halogen ones for some really nice LED units. They weren't cheap, but he can adjust the lights from a soft glow to a blinding white. He paid around 5 grand to outfit his house.
