View Full Version : Finally benched my bodyweight!
Well it took a while, but I finally did it today. Since last Thursday, I'd been telling myself I'm going to bench 150 on Monday (today.) I weigh about 147-148 right now, btw. So I got in there with my room mate, and warmed up while he was doing his thing. Did 15 reps at 135, then 8 at 145. Got him to spot me for the next set so I wouldn't worry about the bar falling on me. Managed to get out 5 reps at 150. Felt so good after that I put it up to 155 and got out 3 more good reps and then one last rep that was ugly as hell :)
Just wanted to thank all of you for the advice you've provided over the last few months. Without it, I doubt very much I'd have gotten this far.
Other PRs from last week are: 205 on dead lifts (2 sets of 5,) and 160 on squats (1 set of 5.) Going for 225 on the deads tomorrow.

Thats good! you really warmed up heavy... or you would have banged out 8. If you can do that, your prolly good for a one rep 180 pounder.

Yeah, I guess I still don't know the optimal way to warm up. Any suggestions?

Congrats, that was a good goal to set for yourself and well attainable.
Next time keep the weight the same but beat it in reps until you can get a good 8-10 clean reps with it then add more weight. Good luck!
