Nice work, tell me do you ever use straps? I started deadlifting seriously only a little while ago, and I dont seem to have the grip strength to do alot of reps, so I started using straps do you think this is a good idea or should I just man up and let the strength buildup?

Did he do lots of reps there? DLs are an exercise that is best done in singles, triples, or maybe fives.
I think you answered your own question when it came to straps.

Thank you everybody on the props! Feels damn good to break 700, its been a long time coming!
My view on straps is not to use them and try to biuld your grip strength that way. Alternate your mixed grip when training multiple sets right from day one. I didnt but I learned the hard way last september when I tore my bicep fliping a 1000lb tire (my Deadlifting overhand hand was not used to griping the tire underhand so my bicep and some other ligaments tore).
If you absolutely must use straps go double overhand it improves your lockout leverages. I hate funbling with straps before a big lift. I just wanna walk up to the loaded barbell grab the mofo and pull.
Things that helped me pull big:
*not training the DL all the time
*squatting WIDE off a box (complete stop)
*lots of vipers (poor mans glute-ham-raise)
*not using a belt except the odd max attempt
*Proper hydration
*Flexability/streching
*LOTS OF GEAR!!!!!!!!!
That being said, I'm built for deadlifting. I tore my bicep septemberish and purelly focused on over head pressing and box squatting. I deadlifted 4-5 times in the last 3months. Yet I made the biggest gains on my DL. WTF???
I compete as a strongman so I already do a ton of "dinasaur" type training, lifting, moving odd heavy objects. I never got much out of doing deadlifts every week with a ton of volume. To somebody wanting to focus their training on squatting/DLing big weights I would suggest looking into wide box squats and www.elitefts.com

Do you DL off boxs to improve your leg drive?
What about speed pulls?

Well even when I use straps my forearms get pumped and tired, I think I might try some isolation exersizes in between to build up my strength.
