Best job in the world
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Come and earn some of my tax dollars by keeping a video blog to promote tourism on the reef.

THE nine to five grind getting you down? Feel like a change? How about becoming the caretaker for a tropical island?
Queensland Tourism is looking for a caretaker on Hamilton Island.
They are willing to pay $150,000 a year for someone to work 12 hours a day for six months while carrying out such duties as feeding turtles, watching whales and picking up the island's post.
No academic qualifications are needed, but good swimming skills and a love of snorkelling, scuba diving and other water sports are a must.
A passion for the great outdoors and the ability to speak English are also considered to be an advantage.

the catch is you have to be their promo person for the stay. You have to blog, do commercials, mag articles. So basically, they are paying you with room and board.
I would do it.

I'd think tens of thousands would apply, with all the unemployment now..

half of the unemployed don't want jobs...... lol
Sounds nice at first, but I'm pretty sure after spending a couple of weeks living like Tom Hanks in cast away, feeding those stupid turtles 12h a day and picking up garbage left by retarded tourists, all you want to do is watch that island sink

Bah! I can feed turtles and pick up trash on a beach for 12 hrs a day as long as there's booze.

Australia's GEAR market is the shits. Their HGH market is worse.

Well I am natural so gear isn't a problem, and it's 12 hours a month not a day.
I would grow a little weed on the island if I got that job hahaha.

420, i would bet there is some growing there natty.
if not, damn straight. I would put out about 100 seeds, and the island would be populated with weed for ever!

Sweet, but something tells me there`s a catch.
Ya the catch is 12hrs per day! At 7 days per week, that's only 34 dollars an hour and you will be wiped out every day.

"The salary equates to an astonishing £972 an hour based on a flexi-time schedule of a 12-hour working month."
What exactly did I misinterpret?

.
It says:
They are willing to pay £70,000 for someone to work 12 hours a MONTH for six months while carrying out such duties as feeding turtles, watching whales and picking up the island's post.
Good deal IMO

If my English/writing skills where good enough I'd apply, why not? someone will get the job and you can only know if you try.

Different links.. they italicized 'month' in the article you posted, perhaps they edited it?
The original link posted, http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24902129-662,00.html and in the OP's post, said 12 hours a day for 6 months.
I wonder which one is right... I guess a 'dream job' would certainly be more of a dream if it was only 12 hrs/month vs 12 hrs/day....
Shit, 12 hrs/month living on that island... hell yeah that'd be sweet. Even for half the salary...
