What hole do you live in that you never heard of Kelowna? Where are you from?
Was a ton of fun as a single guy in the summer and if you ski or snowboard is a decent spot to live in the winter as well.
Trex called it a small town but I would think depends on what your perspective is and where you are coming from. I believe there is about 110k people live there, then plus the surrounding area.

There are a ton of places that are as nice or nicer than Kelowna IMO, all depends on what you are looking for exactly.
I have always had more fun in the Shuswap than the Okanagan, but that's me.
Where are you coming from and what are you interested in etc? Family, or single?
Long term, or just for some fun or holiday etc etc.
Do you want something with more or bigger mountains? Do you have stuff you like to do in the winter, resorts, skiing or boarding. There would be a ton of questions man before you should choose if it was me.

IMO, it is way overpriced (real estate) for what it is...We still own a home a few hours away from there and visited quite a bit while living in the area..
It was a cool city, just pretty pricey IMO ...Vancouverites drove the prices up a tonne in recent yrs...

Ya as soon as the highway between Merritt and Peachland was built there was a lot of businesses (doctors and specialists included) that moved from Kamloops to Kelowna, and Kelowna grew very quickly from that point on. With prices going up with the growth.
But can you blame them? Sell your house in Van and bye a place twice the size and have a shit load left over. I would of done it as well if I ever had the opportunity.
I also found that as long as you were not near the water the prices were not too too bad. Water front property is retarded.

The average house price in my area is $680,000 (US) for a 1200 square foot home.

I just hope it's not too hard for an American to move there. I know Europeans keep their work permits close to their balls...hopefully Canada is not the same.

Ya lived there or in the area on two different occasions.
When I was 19 I lived in Peachland for a few months, and when I was in my mid 20's and all ****ed up before my wife and I got together I lived right downtown for a few months.
I also spent most of my youth in the thompson/okanogan valley areas, and have spent most of the summers (-the last couple) around there as we have a ton of friends in BC as well.
