I workout usually in the mornings what are you opinions on working out with an empty stomach besides some no-xplode (pre-workout energy shake) and eating breakfast right after your workout.

Not a smart idea at all. You just fasted all night while sleeping and now you want to go workout and tear down muscle tissues with nothing to fuel you but some no-xplode..think about that bro. Training in the am on an empty stomach will backfire on you for sure.

Not a good idea. At the very least take in some bcaa and dextrose in your no explode.

If I ever have to workout on an empty stomach I will at least down a WMS & BCAA drink before I train. Worst think you can do is train on an empty stomach.

I started doing this for the last 2 weeks and one thing that i noticed believe or not is strength increase, i was just wondering if i'm the only one who's experienced this. A client of Scott Abel's has done this for years now and he suggested that there is nothing wrong with it as long as you eat right away after your workout.

Although I haven`t tried it, I just can`t imagine getting out of bed, then lifting, heavy or even light weight. Some people even loose muslce mass from doing cardio on an empty stomach, I can only think lifting weights would be worse. But if it works for you, that`s all you need as proof.

The only thing I can think of is maybe you were doing something so wrong with your nutrition before working that you`re better off not eating at all.

i think this is a case where what works for one person doesnt necessarily work for the next, personally i feel like i have no strength in the am until i have a couple solid meals in

I believe there was another thread that covered this. If I remember correctly the reason for not eating before working out is that digestion requires blood flow. Therefore depriving the muscles of much needed blood. The nutrients used for your workout will not come from what you have eaten in the last 15 minutes but what you have already digested.

ive heard the arguments for it and dont buy it. I think a small meal of slow carbs, quality protien and some liquid is just what the doctor ordered.

I hate having that feeling of having no energy when you want to work out, so i always have a meal and than wait about an hour before i hit the weights.

i tink stomach needs to have some food, to fuel muscles and keep your workout better. Once i get sick ,feel it was from no food. and pushing hard on leg day

I think the reason you are experiencing more energy in the gym on an empty stomach is due to insulin sensitivity, try eating a small meal consisting of mostly fats and proteins. That should flatten out the insulin spike wich would lead you to feel boggy in the gym. I used to workout on an empty stomach, also and enjoyed it, after a couple times I started trying to find out the risks and benefits, the truth is that whole " 8 hour fast" stuff is bullshit, i mean who here is pooping every 8 hours? after you wake up your body is still processing food from the day before maybe even before that, everyone is different. People have been known to live for up to 4 weeks without food.

i agree with the NO shake being mixed with BCAA's and a reasonable amount of carbs for early morning workouts. taking NO XPLODE on an empty stomach always helped me feel the effects of the NO more, especially for vascularity.

The morning workout has never worked for me.....even with a big protein shake, bcaa's, a pre-workout N.O.....I find I'll either get light-headed halfway through or just have a garbage workout with no strength......just my 2 cents
