Some 'dirtbag' in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up 'executing' the deputy who stopped him. The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A state wide manhunt ensued.

The low-life was found hiding in a wooded area with his gun. SWAT team officers fired and hit the guy 68 times.

Now here's the kicker:

Naturally, the media asked why they shot him 68 times.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, told the Orlando Sentinel: 'That's all the bullets we had !!' (Talk about an all-time classic answer !!!)

I'm not saying many of them don't feel superior, I'm just saying that I don't think this is the reason in this case. After the guy has killed a cop, I don't expect the other cops to be any nicer to him, because they, as a whole, were attacked. I don't know the circumstances of the arrest, but I think they got ''even'' for one of their own that was killed. He might not have deserved the execution he got, but let's remember he's not an innocent law abiding citizen. My perception of a cop killer is someone who plays the game, loses and then go after the referee for catching his cheat. I don't support the death penalty, but if only one kind of people deserved it, I wish it were for those who go against social order and hurt the ref for doing his job trying to make the game playable.

hear is what was not in the report. This guy killed a deputy sheriff and his K-9. then he ran away and fired on more officers in a neighborhood. He then wounded another officer. He had taken the dead deputy's gun and hid in the woods. Several SWAT members found him and he fired at them. They fired back in defense of themselves or the other team members. They carry automaic weapons (Mp-5's, AR-15's, Mini 14's, etc). If there are are ten officers pulling the trigger for less then a second, three rounds have already left the weapon. So in reality, in one second, thirty rounds are on the way to the target. It was not a revenge killing. It was several officers making a decision in less than a second. I can tell you that in the heat of the moment, none of the officers knew how many times they fired. Law Enforcement officers take a bashing quite frequently. Usually from people that would cower down when something happens. Just remember, they must make life or death decisions in an instant. Then the media and public have weeks to disect what happened and say how "they would have handled it" or "what should have been done". I challenge anyone who second guesses them to pin on a badge.

After a quick scan of this thread I did not see anyone, including Bam, say that shooting the cop was deserved. There was a comment that more would have been better. That was from a single person. However, many comments have called into question the integrity of the police. These comments can not be taken to mean that they wish someone dead. If I missed something, please feel free to point it out.

Ok, so reading that you figure that the guy was found by a swat team and they let off every round that they had at him, hitting him 68 times. Just for fun lets say there are 5 guys on the swat team, each armed with a pistol (6 round service revolver) and a machine gun (say a 30 round clip), and each able to reload once. Lets do some math:

(# of members of SWAT team) X (# of bullets) = 5*(6+30)*2 = 360 BULLETS FIRED
