Any of you guys have to deal with a hernia before. I have several painful lumps in my upper abdomen area, one is in the upper right abdomen, probably 1.5 times of a marble size and I have 2 lumps in my middle left abdomen that are marble sized, I do not have any lumps "down there" but do get slight pain when lifting there. I am awaiting to see the doc when he comes back after this weekend to see what is up, but I am almost certain it is a hernia.

My question is those who have had this experience, did you keep up any training while awaiting surgery,& also what was your post surgery experiences?

The Dr will tell you not to train heavy if you want to keep training , if its not that bad .
I have never had it but I know a few who have . And they still trained and played rugby
I have always herd the waiting list for surgery is a long one also ( in BC ) , so dont be suprised if he says its going to take a few weeks to a few months to get booked in .
So till then , take it easy with your trainng until the Dr clears it

Good luck

Physique should be able to tell you more about that..I think he had a quick recovery.

Also I think T-Rex had his nutts removed completely and was able to train his upper body again within 3-4 weeks.

had mine done in july. i tried to train, but it got to the point where it would pop out climbing stairs. so i stopped. took me about 8 weeks to get back to the gym after surgery. uncomfortable for 3 days, then it gets better.
as for training heavy again that took me another 6-8 weeks.

its well worth getting the surgery as soon as u know, dont put it off like i did!

Thanks for the link gsx and thanks for posting physique, I'll see what the doc says this week and then go from there. Right now I'll stick to high rep, not to failure training and some easy cardio.

I had one operated on when i was younger, i still get pain in that area from heavy lifting but it has never come back thank God... if you have one i would get that operated on as soon as possible, i know a guy who has one and refuses to get it operated and still lifts heavy, ( moron ), dont do this as you could cause serious problems and even life threatening
