try googling the province name and social assistance. They haven't called it welfare in years.

They are called "less fortunate".. lol.
My sister inlaw works at one of those Gov. agency's, she says they are called "clients"!?! ****ing client's!! I couldn't beleive it..
What I don't understand is that you can get convicted criminals to do community work, to make up for what they did, but you can't get those welfarers to work for their money

Seth makes a Good point..
I don't know how they even live on that sliver of chump change they get every month. I blow that in a weekend. If I ever found myself in their shoes, I would definitely become a criminal and start robbing the arrogant rich. I couldn't live like those poor slobs, I'd rather be dead.
Do I take it that some of you think people existing on welfare have it.. uh... good? as in a quality of life?
Phhhffft.. Poor people equated with criminals? We should punish them? lol How do you punish the living dead?

I think thats what pisses most people off, its not ment to live on. It was ment as assistance to get you over a bump in the road so to speak. And i don't have a problem with that, we all at one time or another run into hard times and sometimes a little help go's a long way.
The bitterness comes from this program being a given right for life. I personally know of second generation welfare families and thats just wrong. But i hear what you're saying, i don't know how they can live on the money they get, but they do..
Hey i'm on Welfare it great free money,or should i say cash for life.I get free meds, and free Dental cleaning .Everyone should try it,plus you can get free food at the food bank, and if you need a warm meal there is the soup kitchen haha.
It is because fixed income housing projects keeps them all grouped together in one community. Unfortunately, they need to be spread out amongst the regular community so that they pick up values and norms from these more fiscally successful people instead.
Also.. many of these people have drug and alcohol problems. You see, when you are poor and have nothing, sometimes you need to take the edge off. Many of these people do not have the intellectual capacity or social skills to get a job that would provide a living for them. Its easy to blame people for things, but keep in mind that you may not understand all the circumstances that have made that person select the life choices they have made and are you so sure that under the exact same conditions that you yourself would not have made similar choices?
You can't choose your parents and children tend to have the mentality ''it was good enough for mom & dad".
So thank whatever deity you may or not believe in at night that your soul was not injected into the fetus of a drug addicted welfare mother instead of the nice cozy one you lucked into.
2ndly.. Its Christmas, cut the poor bastard some slack. lol

Welfare is just their base wage, add in some kids for child support and you got a decent income. My wife works as a corporate paralegal and her welfare friend with 2 kids from different fathers on child support clears more than her. Nice. Not worth looking for a job then.

Agreed. I have worked with such families and once they know how to work the system they can make a decent living at it. In one instance there was a family that had a new well put in at a house they OWNED, free of charge. For me to have the same thing done it would have cost me about $7500. I believe there is also a clothing allowance. If you add up all the perks it can be a sizable amount of money for sitting on your ass.

thats why welfaree's have more kids than they can count
its not a program its a lifestyle, absolutely disgusting
you could start taking away their rights and eventually send them to work camps
