So my wife was running late getting ready for work and I was all, "Don't worry, honey, I'll do the shot myself..." (being the heroic nice guy husband). I prepped the needle and went in to my right vastus lateralis (or however you spell it). About 3/4 of an inch in, there was a sharp, burning, pain. I thought to myself, "Don't be a pussy" and forced the needle in about another thousandth of a millimeter. Immediately, my right leg started twitching like it was hooked up to a car battery or something. I think that If I'd never read posts about stuff like that on this site I would have really freaked out. Instead, I actually watched my leg spasm for a couple of seconds. It stopped immediately when I pulled the needle out, and it didn't really hurt or anything. The needle hole bled a bit more than usual, though. I assume I just hit a nerve. I went back in a couple of inches further up my leg. No problem this time.
My wife came in to say goodbye, and I had two cotton balls soaked in alcohol pressed on two different points on my thigh. She found that pretty funny. It figures that the one time I shot myself this month I'd do something like that!

hahah yep mostlikly hit a nerve, what I do is push the needle in pretty slowly and when i start to feel that tingle feeling I just push the pin in a little different direction, usualy works.

Thank you, gentlemen. It's certainly good to know that I'm not the only one... and next time I'll try the change of direction rather than pushing straight in!

Yup same .
Thats the biggest reasons I dont hit the quads . I always do delts or glutes and I pin myself all the time . I got the ex to do it a few times but she didnt like it .
did your leg go numb at all?

When I use to do quads I did em myself. Only once did i have a problem..blood when I aspirated.
I never once hit a nerve that I remember.
IMO you were tense because you had not done it alone. R E L A X and breath before you shoot.

Nope, just the pain, the spasm, and the bit of blood. No aftereffects that I've noticed.
I'll definitely relax next time. I've done my own shots a few times when Chitose has been working or whatever... but I admit that I'm usually a bit nervous about it. I know now that even hitting a nerve is nothing to really worry about. It was more interesting than anything else... and also funny when I had to explain it to my wife. Still haven't hit a vein yet, I suppose that's pretty much inevitable...

You'll know when you hit a vein, when you aspirate you see blood in the barrel. It looks cool as it sometimes swirls in.

i often hit nerves in my quads, so I pull back ever so slightly, then redirect around the nerve. I kind of find my way through sometimes. i don't ever rejab.

wont "redirecting" the pin into anuther spot for the whole "going around" the nerve cause more scar tissue?

it is so slight, that it is worth not re-jabbing

i see.
i think i have hit a nerve a few times in my delts but im not too sure.... it that possible?
the reason i think i may have is cause the sensation i got from it was kinda like a twitch type feeling?
is that hitting a nerve?

The first time I ever did an injection everything went smooth until I pulled the needle out. My buddy was bent right down watching cause he was thinking of trying AS. When I pulled it out blood shot out and some hit my buddy. Scared the shit out of me and my buddy. My buddy to this day still won't try. It didn't stop me though because I had done my research to knew that could happen. What luck, very first time and hasn't happened since. It good to have sites like this to read about other peoples xp and learn.
