who else here thinks that the best punishment for avery's coments about his "sloppy seconds"...would have been letting him play against calgary that night and let phaneuf handle him instead of a suspension?
dion phaneuf is much bigger than sean avery and would have been viewed as a bully for taking care of him, which is unfortunate. i dont understand how this idiot ever made it to the professional level, he isnt even that talented. i have played with guys that are much stronger hockey players that never made it out of junior due to lack of "connections" within the sport. hockey is far too political.
Avery was out of line the guy is an a$$hole and I hope someone smokes him.

your totaly right bro...plus people get labeled at too young of an age in hockey....some guys are great at a young age and just keep getting on teams due to taht reputation then there are those guys taht peak at a later age but get overlooked even though they are better now than the other guy...it sucks that way

hmm, must be just me. i actually think sean is great for the game. every sport or show needs a heel to spice things up.
was his comments necessary? well they werent appropriate, but i have to be honest i laughed.
he will find a new team, even if its the rangers again. he played his best hockey there.

hey bro i laughed at the coments too...and i dont mind him either he creats interest ..but what i was saying is that the league shoulda let the players handle it them selves instead of intervening....i guess im biased casue i love physical play and fighting ...and i wanted to see phaneuf go after him a bit

i disagree. heels fill seats too, just for a dfferent reason and a different type of fan. everyone and i mean everyone loves a good scrap!
as for filling any seats this year, i think we are going to see a few teams, either go bankrupt or move, problem is there will be no where to move too, as everyone is saying the decline in the economy is killing them. back to the original 6?

A. yes he should of played and got hurt..
B. i think he wants to get bought out and never play again personally, or he really is retarded...

avery is one of those player that is loved by the guys on his team but hated by other teams. he is a clown but everything he does on the ice has a point his job is to get the other players off their game and he does that.
I worked out with him when he played JR. He is a good guy. always doing something to make people laugh. One of those guys that you just look at and say **** me this guys off side.
either way I am not saying he is good for hockey or isnt good. I am saying he has a job and he gets it done no matter what....

I was trying to find some stats that I saw on sportsnet, but I couldn't.
Anyway, sportsnet had mentioned that whatever the team Avery is on ( Dallas/NYR) the team has won more games when he is on the ice than off.
He might be a off and on player getting a point here and there, but the motivation he can bring to the ice is worth a few stupid penalties.
I laughed at his sloppy 2nds comment as well, and if in the same industry, I might have said the same thing. Just not infront of so many cameras.

Well I actually know the family as I grew up with Brent and I've never heard him, Wally or anyone else indicate there was any jewish in his family.
I'm not positive, will research further.

I'd like you to see if you can find out for yourself. Although, I am not sure I understand why someone can be Jewish and not athletic. That's like saying blacks can't be smart.
