Hey quick question if this is allowed. (I think it should be). Do any of you have a personal Po Box for your mail..;).. especially in the winter. I know many companies require a photo copy of your identification. I was thinking it would be nice to pick up the mail at anytime of the day or night.

Domestic should not be a problem? What about international shipments?

Bros with experience, would like to hear their feedback. Pros and cons.

Thanx

Some places offer 24/7 box availability---all you need is a key to have access to the main entrance where the mail boxes are...if your package is larger than the box (some boxes are 8 inches by 20---others are bigger---most places have 3 different sizes of boxes), then you can only pick it up during business hours over the counter--for that you may have to present your id ( I know UPS asks for ID...unless you are "in" with the counter person--or UNLESS you own the store).

End of story.

Thanx for the info 'Born'. I have researched UPS and they require a photocopied ID for their records. They also can give you an address that resembles a home address, but ends up in your PO Box. I have heard..(probably a rumour) that UPS are able to open packages. Have you heard of this?

Any form of PO box is going to require some form of ID to open it. Whether that ID is real or fake is up to you... I personally have a couple boxes

Have you heard of this? The only way ANY company can legally open your package is if something unsafe is visible either in or coming from the package, and even that is a gray area...

Remember, I said legally...

So, make sure to package all cooking oils very well... dont want any leaks or dirty messes down at Fedex...

You don't normally need ID to use the po box, but they normally require it to sign up before they give you your key :)

the other thing, when mail gets heavy, like Christmas, Easter, a lot of people are mailing gifts to each other, so any piece of mail won't be as scrutinized compared to when times are slow.....as long as your friend mailing you those baseball cards knows how to pack them carefully, so they don't bend at the edges, you'll be fine ;)

i think it depends on what kind of business it is........if its an actual postal outlet then they need to see id.......mine is just a laundromat/drycleaner/sears catalogue store.......
