Okay,

So my best friend just called me, apparently he was in a sports park, parking lot, doing his injection, he had a bag full of steroids/needles, and a cop pulls up beside him, he pulls the needle out of his leg and caps it and throws in on the passenger seat with all the other stuff and throws a towel over it...

The cop comes over asks what hes doing there, whether hes smoking weed, and says No I dont do that stuff, he then asks for licence and regristration.. He gives it to him, then he asks what is under the towel...

My friend answers with Gym stuff... and the cop says let me see.. My friend then says that they are needles, and the cop says what are you shooting herion.. My friend says no no its for steroids..

The cop then says you know that stuffs illegal right, my friend answers with, only if I bought it, The cop asks where he got it from.. He said he found it in a gym locker... The cop said thats bullshit how do you know theres no rat poison in there, he answered with, lifes a gamble... (dumb ass)

The cop said, stay here Ill be right back, and goes to his cruiser.. Comes back, and I guess ran his name, and said well looks like your a good kid, you havent been in trouble before, and Im sure you dont want your parents or loved ones finding out you do this stuff.. My friend said No, the cop gave back the cards, and then lectured him how its bad for sex drive and bad for your heart....

My friend is now so ****ing parnoid now, becuase he job does police checks on employees every year...

Is it possible for the cop to have entered something into his record, even though he didnt get a warrant, arrest him....

Any problems with what happened..

FOIP allows you to do your own police check on yourself. you have the right to ask for all documents and files pertaining to you.

and dumb to shoot in parking lot, your friend must be 18. Smart the way he dealt with the cop though.

i dont think your job could possibly be affected.

I had a friend who got pulled over for some unrelated reason and the cop spotted a bottle of test in the cupholder. He took the vial, gave him the steroids are bad lecture, and left with the bottle lol.

But yeah, your "friend" didn't do anything unlawful. i don't see any reason for him to be worried.

well if the cop has legit grounds for suspicion he can search i think.

so since the guy said he had needles, and the cop thought he seen him doing drugs.

that could almost be grounds for legit suspicion, meaning a vehicle search would be legal

Hmm, I see. Well, I'm no lawyer and have only read some basics so this is good information to know.

Here's a hypothetical situation: I get stopped by RIDE on Saturday night for a standard check or get pulled over for speeding. Can they ask me what I have in my car (or rather, am I obligated to tell them)?

Every time a LE Officer enters a name query in CPIC it stays on file. However, in your friends case his name will only be identified in the system as :

Doe, John - 2008-12-07- 22:00 hrs - Name Query

The reason that such petty information such as this is kept on file as needless as it seems is infact for a few reasons. One so there is some sort of record of searches that specific Le officers run. Police officers and others who have access to CPIC have to be accountable and be able to justify why they are using the system and searching specific names. Keeps cops and other LE from using the system willy nilly to check on neighbours and girlfriends..etc
Secondly, it kind of provides a time picture of when a specific individual has come into contact with LE.

*A criminal record check (such as those theyd do for employment) will only identify whether a person has a criminal record and has been formally charged with a crime

im no lawyer either, but im pretty sure if its just a random check stop they have no idea to search the vehicle, other then sticking in that little device that detects alcohol. And even if your getting pulled over for speeding, there is no relative reason they would need to search the vehicle, so i still think you need to give consent. Someone correct me if im wrong.

they are allowed to search the car if anything illegal is in plain sight. the towel is kinda sketchy tho, it sounded pretty obvious that he was trying to hide something. if it's that obvious the cop probably has the right to search it.

but a cop cannot just search your car for no reason. and if he asks you loaded incriminating questions you dont need to answer. just say "am i free to go or am i being detained?"

ubcpower
08-12-2008, 01:37 AM
He has to have something in plain sight (probable cause) to search your vehicle, or a warrant.

If you think this is bad.. I know a guy who does injections while driving home from the gym.. He doesnt even pull over does it while actually driving... LOL

probable cause can also be odour (pertaining to weed)...doesnt have to always be visual

bigpapapump2016

Okay. Two things here.

1) The cop can look under the towel if he wanted to because all that an officer needs is what they call "reasonable grounds". Meaning if you are parked in a sketchy ally and look and sound like a dope user, they can look in there. A lot of people think they have this magical right to say no you cant, when really they can and will.

2) There will be nothing written on your report that employers can see, unless your employer is the Police or military. Despite what you may think, when your license is run or checked out, they record that. Also, every situation like the one described, the police officer would have to write that down in his note pad, which is then typed into a report and filed away. They would not be checked unless the police or military are looking into your background, in which case if they WANTED to, they could see that your name and license was run into the computer on such and such a date, then they would find the notes pertaining to the incident to see what the situation was about. If you are looking into a career in law enforcement you will need to be up front and honest with the hiring board, too many times have people been put through the system and just about to get sent to the police academy, when a background check reveals something like this, then they fire you on the spot and youll never get hired by another department. be careful!!!

hey will know every little dark secret about after wards. An if you try to hide anything, they will find out during polygraph phase, then turf you for lying.

You need to be OUT OF THE GEAR SCENE ALTOGETHER for at least 2 years prior to application.
