I am coming back from a shoulder injury and starting to prepare myself for a great summer.

I have done 5X5 and German Volume Training 2X with success, been reading about DC and am very interested.

My dillema: should I go for 1 month of 5x5 them 3 months of DC, recover for e month and them 3 months cutting + GVT? Or just go for DC and do it until the end of my cutting?

Im a big fan of 5x5 it makes me big strong and sexy. I have tried DC a few times. I made some really good gains, but it seems to fry my nervs so bad that I get very snappy at times. I have also gotten a cold halfway through both times I tried it and had to take 2 weeks off. In that time my strength was back where it started. I have never had this problem with 5x5.

Depends on your ultimate goal. From my experience with these two training methods 5x5 will make you stronger more quickly. However the size gains from DC are better. DC training will make you stronger but your lifts won't go up as quickly as w/ 5x5. The one program (5x5) is designed for strength athletes and powerlifters, the other for bodybuilders. Both programs can quickly lead to overtraining and make you tired/sick.

The way I deal with this for DC training is that if I don't feel 100% I don't go to the gym. Sometimes I miss workouts on purpose otherwise it would be hard to do DC drug free for even 1 month. The only time I had no problems and didn't miss workouts was when I was eating truckloads of food and sleeping 8-9hrs/night. I like DC more although one thing you have to remember is that everyone is different. So following a program exactly the way it is designed isn't optimal. If you log your workouts you should be able to figure out what is working and what isn't and make adjustments.

With a shoulder injury recoup do you think you should be starting out with any type of heavy duty lifting?

Exactly what i was thinking. Either program you'd want to be at your best. Comeing off an injury, especially a shoulder injury, would make me hesitant to do either 5x5 or DC.
