I remember watching that show when I was little. like 7 or 8 years old.
It was my favorite show, I mostly thought it was boring, except for the 2 times each episode when bill bixby would get mad and turn into the Hulk, and smash the shit out of everything. I loved it.

I used to think that it was a guy in a suit or something, and I still remember
the day I found out it was a real person with green paint on them!
I was completely blown away. I couldn't believe it!! I had no idea at the time that there were people who looked like that. it was my first exposure to the world of bodybuilding, and probably part of the reason I am where I am now.

Anyone else influenced by this great example of 70's television culture?

Me too. They originally offered Arnold the role. He's like I'm too pretty for that! Poor Ferigno never really went anywhere in TV.

I was about 12 or 13 and I loved it along with the 6 million $ man. I remember about a year or two later Big Lou was signing at the World of Wheels in Calgary and I saw him walking beside me on the way to his venue and I freaked out!! The guy was a train and I have never seen anybody that big in my life ever again but then again I was pretty young.

That was definitely a huge influence on me getting into weight lifting. It helped my parents to understand what the motivation was.

I remember the first time I saw Pumping Iron as a kid, too. Big Lou was the hero to me then, and Arnold was the other guy who wanted to beat The Hulk!
