View Full Version : border mail searching question

So I recently ordered some DVDs overseas. What I ordered will be VERY light like <10g I would think. Does anyone know the criteria for deciding on whether to open a package or not? I mean I can understand the border thinking "maybe we should open this package that's a whole kilo, might have some contraband," Do you think something that's going to weigh basically nothing will have a better chance of getting through? Having the border guy pick up the package, go "**** that's too light to be anything" and pass it on? It's just getting to the expected arrival date and I'm getting paranoid!

Thanks all!

I'm pretty sure they have some kind of random inspection scheme(like at the airport) in addition to inspections based on suspicion. That being said, the worse that'll happen is that you'll loose your 10 grams. I can't see them pressing charges for importation for something so ridiculously small

It's a gamble man, they open what they want when they want, like evem some recs and some orals gears come on paper, so, ya anything and everythig can just be random..

alot of it has to do with your sources point of origin and packaging. Customs flags certain "hot spots". Also, if the pack if rattly or worse leaky it probably will be opened ..... Also, I believe they can flag suspicious addresses, I changed my address after 2 consecutive "missing packs" and it definitely helped.

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't order powder if that's what people are wondering. just some HCG. an amp is pretty damn weightless, I ordered 10. I have a couple friends who work at the brder coming from the US to Canada. Apparently there is no "To be watched" list for addresses. Maybe different internationally? I've had 3 packages go missing in a row, then have 3-4 show up after that, all to the same address. Hell i had one opened, repacked, and sent on it's way :) I believe that an address change should not be needed

It unfortunately is from China, so i realize the 'hotspot' about that.

I guess the next question, has anyone had any luck recently? anything make it in? Anyone wanna take some bets on it making it? Should I really be holding my breath for this?

Also, someone please tell me if this is too much info. I didn't post prices or names, and it's nothing about UG. I'm figuring i'm safe?

PS. on a side note, I read somewhere in passing that HCG might become unregulated in Canada? Anyone know more of this?

East coast or west coast

I'm on the east, but since it's coming from china it will go through the west coast border I assume.

They say they don't but they do tag ya. It's not random...lol Ya right!...dh gets pulled in all the time when he arrives on international flights into the US.

DVDs from abroad could mean kiddy porn etc. I say they checked the package out.

they are "suppose" to open and check any package that is over 8grams. It isn't a full proof system but that is the mandate.

I'll never understand the border. I've had T3 come though, opened, searched, and still sent to me. Hell a few years back i had EQ opened and still sent to me.

As for a "Watched" list, there's a watch list if you have charges against you. So being pulled from a plane would definitly fall into that category. I used to work for a guy who spent 2 years for bringing pseudoephedrine onto a plane, he got pulled off every time he traveled after that, no question. As for mail, with no charges against you, as far as i know, there are no "watch" lists. But that's what I know.

well talk about eating my words. Just got an e-mail back from the CBSA (yes i sent it to them from safe-mail and didn't use names or anything) and this was the responce:

"The answer to your question is yes. Individuals or companies found attempting to import controlled substances without the appropriate authorizations will be identified for increased verification of subsequent shipments.

Thank you for contacting the Canada Border Services Agency.

Subject: Re: two importing questions

Can you please answer my first question... If someone imports a schedule F or schedule IV drug, and it is discovered is the importer put on a "to be watched list" or something similar. If so would this result in more mail being searched in the future to that individual?

please don't just quote the CBSA website... I don't appreciate being patronized.

I have contacted health Canada about my other question."

There was parts to this e-mail before this, but i figured this was enough to get the point across

I have had schedule F seizures and letters with 2 and continued to use same address for delivery no problems. The only time I have had grief in the past getting stuff through customs is when I get it registered, that seems to prompt attention that there may be value and somebody is missing out on some tax money.

3 registered from overseas, 2 letters from coustoms...2 items where peptides..recevied letters for those...had a friend send me a package from Thailand. registered..never left coustoms when it arrived and never received a letter on that one ....I also did order from eroupe some orals supplements and all them arrived on 3 different occasions and they WHERE NOT registered..ITS A GAMBLE... IMO christmas season has to be the best time to order overseas how are they going to check all the packages coming in from all over the world in just a few weeks...****ing impossible...

sounds like you just had no luck with anything from china/thailand. That's not gonna keep my spirits high... My package is unregistered though, so here's hoping! The third registered package from overseas, did you recieve it, or did you have absolutely zero luck with china?

Yep, you get caught you are flagged, it is 7 years. I have 2 more to go before i am off the list :0

Do they just flag your address ? So if you rented a new box then you would be clear again ?

I actually think it is your name. I get searched at airports but packages don't really have a big problem coming in to my address (or any address)

A lot of people have the same name, and what if you use a different form of your name like say Mike Smith, Michael Smith, Mikey Smith. I just don't see how that would work effectively.

If your name is flagged that will come up when they scan your passport. There is no way for them to run a name and get the right person, thousands of names are the same.

If you are getting mail, it will be the address that is flagged not the name.

my address is not flagged, sorry, but my name is.

Got a package yesterday, wasn't even searched, unopened, and better yet it went through the west coast... Guess I'm not on some kind of list! Who knows with the border anymore I think. I think it depends more on if the border guard needs to restock for his cycle than anything else. Horay for Canada and the obvious slack on the mail searching!

I'd like to know what the correct information is then. Im pretty sure other members of the board would like to know as well. What I stated is what other members on this board believe to be true. Since I'm wrong, can you please enlighten us to what is correct?

I second this request.

sorry i dont really feel comfortable answering this question in detail in this post. But to answer the question simply, once someone violates a customs/immigration act law then there is certain protocol that must be followed with respect to creating a file. One of the steps is to take all information: name, address, phone, license plate number, license number.....etc and enter it in the system.
Thus once an address is "flagged" the name and other pertinent information will available along with it. PM me if youre not satisfied w./ this response

...they are watching every post...reading everything we type and post. The less sensible info we give them out, the less they see WE know the better IMO
